nail trimming
|
| |
Well Pippy's neck is better, but now she has little spots on her whiskers and by her ear, presumably from scratching also. Is there an alternative to manually trimming her claws? Is there something we can put in there with her that she'll use to keep her claws down?

raw spot on neck
|
| |
This evening my wife noticed a place on the underside of Pippy's neck. It is a long, narrow red place stretching from the underside of her mouth about an inch back straight towards her belly. It looks like some kind of wound, but it's not bleeding or oozing, at least not that I can tell. She doesn't "act" hurt, and is still the same wonderful rat - her behavior... more »

Scoots about to pass
|
| |
My little Scooter is close to the end I think. I have noticed he has stopped eating, drinking, and although he hasn't actually lost any weight when I picked him up last time he seemed empty, as in like he was still big but no longer there. The 15 oz rat looked like a volleyball! So I got a little worried and fixed the wheel and they've been running like crazy and look like they've dropped a little weight.... more »

Bertha is at it again!
|
| |
Only this time it was something many long time owners of female rats have had to deal with. Yes she had mammary tumors. Three of them to be exact, about 45-50mm in diameter. Very encapsulated with no invasion into the abdomal cavity. She recoverd quickly from anesthesia and is back to her good old "stick that hand near the cage and I'll keep it" self.... more »

Tomatoes
|
| |
I gave Cecily and Julie a freshly-picked tomato from the greenhouse. They started fighting over who got to eat the fresh, juicy green stuff at the top while ignoring the actual red bit ;-D
