I am raging, seriously, I could murder someone right now.

Decided it was a nice evening for a walk, me and the lady decide to take
weeman to Cramond Island . Had a great time, not too cold (not to warm
either!), spent maybe 90 minutes walking over and back again, the tide was
out so safe enough (for those who don't know Cramond, you can only cross at
certain times as the pathway is submerged when the tide is in). Everything
was relatively stress free...

Until I got home :( :( :( :(

Our Cockatoo has literally pulled a Houdini on us - somehow the little
bastard managed to open the "bird proof latch" on his cage, and make his way
to my £300 AV unit. He has completely destroyed it - the Xbox and other AV
equipment have survived, however about 30% of the unit is lying in shards of
broken wood.

After the AV unit feast, he proceeded to my £3,000 fireplace and THANKFULLY
ignored the wood! Instead, he DESTROYED every piece of artificial coal and
got black dust EVERYWHERE.

Next, he proceeded UP the standard lamp behind my couch, bit a hole in my
wall, destroyed a £50 picture frame and a piece of ornamental wood.

I cannot describe the anger running through my veins. My other half has
fucked off in the car, she's having a breakdown, and im trying to remain
calm in front of my son. She has every reason to be upset, her neck has
received too much attention from the bird as of late. I'm almost certain
the Insurance company will tell me to piss off, so I reckon im £500 out of
pocket once I replace the damaged goods.

I thought I must have left his cage door open, but I have two CCTV cameras
in my livingroom recording 24/7 - the little shit managed to open his door
himself before going on his merry little way.

Im not angry at the bird, a house is no place for what is essentially a wild
animal. Once his Aviary is upstairs, these situations should be avoided....

What a fucking night.

Badass.

PS - the daft fucking bird is obsessed with buttons, HE TURNED ON THE
FUCKING OZONATOR WHICH IS LETHAL TO PARROTS, yet he remains...

Sorry for my language, I still love him to bits, just annoyed at the moment
:(

Also, take some pics - useful for the insurance claim perhaps.

Im already laughing, the Cockatoo is still my wee darling!!!

Thank god. I was worried about the "fake coal" - I immediatly sent him for
a long warm shower, as I know it forces him to drink plenty of water. He
seems fine.

Wish me luck :) Couch tonight I bet!!!

Done, however I guess they won't cover against pet damage.

Gary.

Hmmmm, I wonder if your homeowners will cover it. I'd like to hear that
conversation with your insurance agent.

Well,

I am unhappy to report, it was a very short conversation, the reply: "Im
sorry to confirm sir, your policy does not cover any damage caused by
pets.".

I'm over it already, I blow more money on a night out, will replace the unit
and get his Aviary finished ASAP!!!

Gary.

USE PADLOCKS.

Cockatoos are reknowned mechanical engineers.
Mine was picking at cage latches his first week here.
He can flip a wing nut as fast as I can.

Glad you're seeing the humor now. Take lots of pictures,
someday you'll laugh at them, and be grateful no harm came to the bird.

Sorry for the top post, but I didn't see your original post.

I was wondering why I haven't seen Harry on your cam for over a week.
I hate to say this, but it sounds like he wants or needs more physical
stimulation and contact with his owners.

I am so sorry to hear that money go out the tube. Particularly since
you built an aviary to die for!

He was just being a bird, so I'm glad you're not angry at him. How
many hours a day are you spending with him out of the cage?
