Well, since it is what I am doing for a living, I would tend to agree
with you on that! <g>

..huh??...
..reminds me of the cartoon about golf...2 guys on a green....one says "so
you mean the fewer number of times you hit the ball the better it
is??"..the other guy says...."yup!!"...the first guy says " so why hit it
at all??"....kinda sums up golf, doesnt it?...and not painting....:))
murphy, into not doing lots of things this weekend...:)
Rick! Where do you faux? What are your best techniques? I know we
have some things to talk about!
Doncha just love to see DIY faux jobs with the little strip by the
ceiling and in the corners where there isn't any finish?
Personally, I like the wooden columns that end up looking like marble.
Black is my personal favorite.
I gotta admit Suzie dokes a pretty good job.
Where didja get your training?

Faux painting pays a lot because it is ART.
(forgive me, I live with a faux painter.)
Check www.suziepaints.com for the wife's service. Sorry, only in the
St Louis area!

I'm currently in N.Ga Mountains, but if the project I am currently
working on meets the approval of the Interior Decorators, we will branch
out to the Atlanta Area. Apparently, there is no one in this area who
does it. When I was out last week looking for brushes, the Decorating
Center had to dust them off to sale them , at half price! <G> They had
ordered them but no one ever bought them! They requested business cards
since they had a lot of requests for referrals, but no artisans. That
was twice in two days I had been asked, so....
I took lessons years ago in the late 60's. My instructor had studied
at the University of Sorbonne. She is currently in New York.
My early training was in Trompe l'oeil. But I've worked for years on
perfecting techniques in patterns. Mainly thru trial and error! <g>
I think one of my best was metal kitchen cabinets which I made to look
like walnut using a flat white base and then overlayed with an oil
stain. Mainly brush stroke technique to get the grain right. but I
understand that it fooled a lot of people!
The marble columns are my favorite too. Especially the black. :-)
I emailed Suzie after visiting her website about my current project. I
really liked her 4th sample with the leather look. I'm anxious to try
that one myself. My own home has rooms that are too small for designer
walls, though. I use basic white for the illusion of space. Although I'm
contemplating texturing the walls. Might as well practice on my own
place!

Hmm. Something is amiss with my email. Trying to send this to you came
back with fragmented headers....

It sounds as if you have an untapped gold mine there!
I noticed when the mail server passed the message to Suzie's account,
thought it was from you. She's sometimes a little slow with email so
give her a few days.
BTW, my "reply to" field says "the voices in your head". Pick my
email out of the "from" field and you'll do fine.
