It's happened once again. On the way to Tim Horton's this morning for my
morning ritual of coffee and newspaper, my little girl (well, she's not mine
but it appears fate has chosen her to teach me something about life) of bubble
blowing fame was out in front of her granny's house.

Today she was busy with her chalk, marking up the sidewalk in childish designs
and as before, entirely lost in a world of her own...so full of joy,
simplicity and peace. I started to smile, although I'm not sure why, and the
smile is still with me six hours later.

I love that little girl's lessons. She is teaching me about the joy of being
alive.

We all need to reflect on the simple easy things in life, Wayne. Such things as
watching my niece and nephew playing with each other in the back yard of my
parents home, always having fun no matter what they are doing, always brings a
smile and contentment to me.

Wayne,
I know exactly what you mean. Since the arrival of my grandson,
Zachary, 3 years ago, I have been seeing the world through different
eyes. Little ones don't know hate and distrust, they find pleasure
in life's little wonders, and there is nothing more satisfying than
learning life's lessons all over again through them.

These messages brought a smile to my face. Helped me realize, once again,
that the precious things in life aren't those that can be quantified
abstractly. They have to be experienced and appreciated by folks whose
hearts are open to them.

Grand kids super..I pick my 8 yr. old up after school 2-3 days a week..our
conversations are priceless. I was told the other day I was"oblivious" since I
failed to notice which way a motorcyclist went.
Yesterday he felt he had caught me in a gramatical error (easily done) and I
got a small lecture on possesive pro-nouns, etc.and corrected. Then he said " I
gotcha for all the times you have corrected me.!">learning life's lessons all
over again through them.

true what they say about "payback" LOL

I guess sex is the major topic among the boys in my son's second grade class.
A couple of months ago he was explaining about how moms have babies. He looked
puzzled and told me he didn't understand why there had to be dads. Before I
could reply he brightened up and said, "Oh, yeah! You have to have dads to
drive the moms to the hospital." I was laughing so hard we never got around
to why you have to have dads.

Now, after some fascinated hours watching beetles mate, and further
discussions with his pals, he has informed me he knows all about the role of
men, which he considers completely disgusting. After much hemming and hawing
he wanted to know if his dad and I had actually had sex. I told him of course
we had. Then he asked if I had liked it. I said yes. In complete disbelief
he retorted, "Well, I bet Daddy didn't!" Little buggers keep you on your
toes.

They're great these kids!!LOL
This reminds me of my eldest kid (I hope I haven't
told it before!!age!!)
He was 5 -6 years old at that time! One day he
came home from kindergarten and told me he knew
everything about how kids were made! His friend
who had a lot of brothers and sisters had told
him, he said. But then he added,"I won't ever be
able to marry and have kids, mum."
I asked him why. he said, "Well, you know about me
getting up every night to spend a penny"! The poor
thing thought that to have a child you had to have
sex while you were sleeping, and this all through
the night! <G> So I gently explained things to
him, he was so relieved. But as a matter of fact,
he's 29 today and still not married! LOL!!

We could all eaisly compose a book about our kids and grand kids..just wish I
had written down all of their bits of wisdom. Luckily some pop into mind, and
now I do write them down.

Same here chatsbet, I have forgotten most of them.
Now I tell my daughter to write down things that
her little Frédéric does or says, but I don't know
if she is courageous enough to do it.

Yesterdays daily gem:
8 1/2 yr. old asked what the word " Whore" meant. I was pleased his Mom was
standing right there, and very truthfully answered. A boy in his group of
friends had called a little girl in his group that, . Mom asked why?? He said,"
well, she was swinging her tush around"!!!LOL
