You've come across a big Peeve!: of mine, there.

One of the unfortunate parts of living in an East coast city is the fact that
they tend to be overrun with too many underliterate, unintelligible, semi-
intelligent American Dream (tm) seekers who just washed up here off some boat
and find work in the service industry. In my particular neighborhood, trying
to get fast food, gas, groceries, etc. results in a massive amount of
frustration should I forget and try to do anything outside of the small
program they're familiar with, or anything else that requires more than a
slight amount of either reasonable thought, or reasonable speech and
communication between two people.

Peeve: Asking the manager "Why do you have that person on the counter when they
can barely speak English" and being unable to understand *him*.
