Take the time to read this short message completely.
You won't regret! If we all take a little action the P2P world
will be a better place for all of us!!!!
============================================================
P2P networks use all rely on the fairness of other people
to equally share at least some files as available uploads.
So the more files you share the faster it will be for others
to download the files they need.
Now, we all know that downlaoding a software packages (in zip,
rar or iso format) is not that difficult. They are always
provided as one or at maximum 2 files.
BUT, downloading a full (music) album is a lot more difficult,
right?
This doesn't have to be like that!
If all of us would just rip as least as one CD (or even better
let's say 3 full cd's), compress them in a zip file and give them
a recognizable name this problem woule be solved within a few
weeks.
a recognizable name for an album can be:
FULL-ALBUM-IN-ZIP-ACTION_[artist]_[album-title].zip
eg "FULL-ALBUM-IN-ZIP-ACTION_coldplay_xandY.zip"
try te be consequent in this so everyone just has to do a seach on
"FULL-ALBUM-IN-ZIP-ACTION" and get a list of all available albums!
Take care in which albums you rip and provide on-line.
We could all for example pick 1 or more albums from a very big
and rich mainstream band and pick 2 or more albums that you have
from a band which you think that could be hard to find for others
(less known) but still big and rich enough.
Now be carefull with sharing full albums from bands that are
still very small and who can use the income from selling records
for their future growth. In that case just upload one or 2 of
their better songs just to give them some form of promotion.
People will find their songs, maybe go their website and decide
to buy an album. Once they have become big and mainstream
(giving expensive concert in big arena's and stadia),
don't hesitate to share their older albums! They don't need the
money anymore!
So act today, and share full albums! others will follow your example
and your collection will grow and grow! Be proud to be an active
part of this action!

HOW TO DO THIS? (a short tutorial)
1. get the right software for the job.
Using one of the available CD-rippers you convert the CDs you
picked to the mp3-format. A very good and known CD-ripper is
"Easy CD-DA extractor". For more info and download see:
See: http://www.poikosoft.com/index.html
If you install this soft for the first time you can use it for a while
as an evaluation version
It also has no problems with copied cds and works most of the time
out-of-the-box (no config needed).
When you have an internet connection this ripper software will most
of the time be able to fetch all CD information (traclk tiltles ond so on
from the internet (using freebd).
If the CD you picked is not known for any reason please take a few
minutes to enter the track-titles yourself. Or even better add the CD
directely to the freedb database so it will be available for others.
For more info on this see:
http://www.freedb.org/modules.php?name=Sections&sop=viewarticle&artid=26#2-1
2. rip the CD "the right way":
You have to verify a few settings in your ripper-software:
For CD-DA these are the settings:
"Output filenames" <Album Artist> - <Album>\<Number>. <Title>
v Enable ID3 V1
v Enable ID3 V1
quality: Near CD-quality (good enough) or CD-quality
Pressing "Rip CD" will start the ripping process which will take a few
minutes depending on your CPU-speed.
3. pack all the output files in the a zip or rar-file
It is important that you give this zip file a recognisable and
uniform name for the album:
The naming convention is: "FULL-ALBUM-IN-ZIP-ACTION_artist_album-title"
eg FULL-ALBUM-IN-ZIP-ACTION_coldplay_XandY
try te be consequent in this so everyone just has to do a query on
"FULL-ALBUM-IN-ZIP-ACTION" and get a list of all available albums.
4. Put the zip file in your shared directory.
Make sure it can be uploaded and leave your file-sharing program
as much as possible during the first few days.
Most P2P programs have the possibility to view which files are uploaded
from your PC. Make sure they are uploaded a few times so they can start
to be distributed!
5. Happy donwloading!
