I will tell you up front that I am not the sharpest tool in the shed
and that I need to be knocked upside the head with a hammer to change
things that I know are bad for me. I look at life with disgruntled
optimism and still believe that humanity will find the passion to live
life to our potential. Crazy, I know.
I see all faces of humanity throughout the world’s religions,
cultures, nations and colors as one human race. We are a mixed breed
mutt, but a beautiful mutt nevertheless. I know, I know, more
craziness.
I look at all the pain, anger and violence in the world and see it as
humanity’s cry for help. It saddens me to the core that this self
inflicted pain has been going on for generations and generations. It
would be easy to believe that we would like to live life better but we
still see ourselves and live life as a fractured people and that is
what breaks us. We keep hitting ourselves over and over again hoping
that the next act of violence or the next round of pain and anger
would be our last, but it isn’t. We don’t have the strength and
resolve to put down that hammer. Not alone anyway.
The way I see it, the problems humanity faces do not belong to any one
religion, culture or nation and consequently humanity must act and
resolve them as one to utilize the wisdom, knowledge and resources
from our diverse perspectives of life. I don’t know about you, but I
am tired of beating myself up. I am tired of the pain and violence in
the world. Haven’t we as a people cried enough tears?
Sooner or later the choices we make must be in the best interests of
us as individuals and of humanity as a whole. I know it is hard at
times to do the right thing. Sometimes the effort it takes to rise
above just isn’t in us. So often the temptation to simply sink back
down to where we were is just too great. I am sure we all have
suffered through the pain and heartache of living with those
decisions.
I believe that we all have within our heart the power to do what is
right. I believe that as more and more people throughout the world
look at each other in the eyes and see the spirit of life that we
share, we will tilt life towards the path to peace. I believe that the
peace of the individual and the peace of humanity are intertwined in
existence and that you truly can’t have one without the other. I
believe we are finding that out. I want peace in my life and in my
heart of hearts I know that humanity wants to find peace as well.
Sometimes it just takes a little while to find.
