Anyway you don't expect anyone to try to track you down just because you insist it is possible, do you? :)

my my, I have made an enemy! Not the last one I trust. I was reading anarticle the other day about L R Hubbard audition one of those guys from the orion cluster that had started a group that attracted the blatantly irresponsible folk. If you must know, I consider you a part of that group. One of the ploys of members of that group is to say all sorts of untrue things just in an effort to get people to chase them around so they can have fun running. Of course the game is rigged, even if they stop for a rest there is no way to catch them :)
BTW if you would like to be censored in my new group, just send me an email begging to be censored and I'll make a blacklist program just to censor you.

Ok what the heck, l'll take a stab at this as well. I know some of what I will say has already been said by Dr. Postman I believe, but I will try to add some new stuff as well.
1) Your name is Brendan Burton or possibly Brenda Burton. 2) I think you are male but for some reason I'm getting female as well... Confusing... 3) You are around 37 years old 4) You have be known to enjoy a puff or two of marijuana. 5) Oasis is one of your favorite bands. 6) You are left handed. 7) You are currently attending some kind of school or classes. 8) You have some scars on your body that you don't know the origin of. 9) You have more than a passing interest in UFO phenomena. 10) You don't like clinical environments at all. 11) You have recently started to awaken to your spiritual side.
And now some think that BB is one of the a.s.t. gang. Oh well - the whois tool I used said that BB is using an ISP in the UK, but even that can be faked.

I don't know about BB but that "Re: IMPORTANT: Gary L. Burnore is a Sex 0ffender!" thread and other related threads on Gary L. Brumore here in a.p definitely look like spammer material. It looks like alt.paranormal is being targeted. With all the spam and flame wars in here already, I doubt anyone hardly notices anyway. :-)

I hope that was a typo! :-) Actually it wasn't all net search results, (although I don't recall you saying that net searches were not allowed). Does that mean i don't get a prize? :-(
These were genuine "guesses": What about Brenda Burton as opposed to Brendan Burton? Are there two of you using the same account? What about the confusion between male and female thing? What about the 37 years old one? Do you also like the band skunkworks? Or is that your son?
BTW I don't think you are one of the spammers, your posts seem legit to me.

Nope I dont think so but Enigma is right there is trolling going on out of some ast (mostly alt.flame and afkm-n) groups
dial.pipex.uk is a regular ISP.
Hows this for a ng troll from the Gary Burnmore thread:
triangle.general,alt.teens,alt.flame,alt.fan.karl-malden.nose,alt.horror.we r ewolves,news.groups,alt.rock-n-roll.metal.death,alt.privacy.anon-server,alt . games.final-fantasy,news.admin.censorship,alt.paranormal,news.admin.net-abu s e.usenet
Best thing for now is not to react and forget them. I will post the battle plans if you are interested? Have you been watching afkm-n then?

BB? In know way did I take Samhain's comment to be any kind of a threat to anyone. Samhain and Postman were joking about how a frozen bag of peas could be used as an icepack. At most it was an off-color joke.
BB, if you are new to posting to Usenet, then you need to be aware of something. It is very easy to misunderstand the meaning and intention of something someone states in a message on Usenet, because you can't see their facial expressions and hear their tone of voice. If you have any doubts about something someone posts, just post a follow-up message and politely ask the person to clarify their comments.
I doubt anyone else reading this newsgroup took Samhain's comments as anything other than a joke to Postman. They were not even talking to you. Take a look at some of the other posts Samhain has made in alt.paranormal in the last couple of weeks and you'll see that Samhain has been extremely polite in all his postings with everyone he was responding to. Samhain also posted up some helpful comments and information concerning moderating Usenet newsgroups.
BB, either you are a very clever troller as some have suspected, or you need to calm down and rethink this through. If you were concerned about something someone said, wouldn't it make more sense to post a message asking the person to clarify their comments before jumping to conclusions?

As a joke. Certainly not directed at you. Ironicly the joke has a bit of helpful health advice. Get over yourself bb, this is USENET. Its not always about you.

For one thing he never would had made the quote that you have decided to take/and or make issue with had I not brought up the use of peas in frozen form - I did so with levity but I was not joking. Call it alacrity. I suffered a herniated disc back in January and with physical therapy I was able to avoid an operation. Because I was unable to work it was suggested to me by the therapist to use a bag of frozen peas instead of paying over $35 for a reusable ice pack. Damned sound advice. Now had Samhain responded to you with his remark you might have taken it personally, or however you are taking it (depending upon your motives) but he didn't - he said it to me. End of subject. Even if this was a trolling attempt it would be such a desperate reach that it would be doomed for failure.

Usenet is a bulletin board version of chatting. What was private about what was said? Who is making email adds - this has nothing to do with email. Samhain and I have never emailed each other - what are you trying to say?

If its posted to private email its a private discussion, if its posted to Usenet its a public discussion. Either one is ok. BTW, I wonder if you are going to publicly apologize to Samhain for your bizarre accusation against him? If you don't do so, don't be surprised if some people here start calling you strange names like "sock puppet" and "kook" and such. There are a few others who have made an entrance into alt.paranormal very similar to yours and they are still carrying on in a similar manner. You seem to be following in their footsteps. If I'm not making sense here don't worry about it. This is Usenet, not reality. :-)

He was talking about alt.syntax.tactical - I thought you knew enough about Usenet to tell people what they should or should not talk about. No mention was made about your sig file and by the time the thread had gotten to that post there is no way you could have even inferred we had you in mind. I saw a good quote in a post today - recognize it: "USENET is not always about you."

So what is your objection here - Samhain and I have only corresponded on Usenet. How do you get from claiming that someone has threatened you in a post between two people other than yourself where you were not even referred to, to lecturing me on what Usenet is or isn't about. I'd say that you should have been speaking to yourself. Bad answer BB

bb, I'm really beginning to wonder about you. Did you not read what Samhain said above? He said that he has been using the signature "luv and peas" for about 10 years. It had nothing to do with you. That's why Matt Kriebel made the comment about Usenet not always being about you. Do you follow now?
You seem to be new to Usenet yet you also seem to be telling people what is supposedly appropriate and not appropriate for Usenet, instead of listening to others explanations of how things work. Also, whether you realize it or not, you have been "flaming" Postman for doing nothing more than try to clear up some misconceptions that you seem to have.
>header. By the way, you referred publicly to 'battle plans', could you >clear that one up? Or was that meant to be for Dr Postmans eyes only, it's >hard to tell.
Samhain was referring to an organized group of mostly juveniles that spend most of their time on Usenet trying to disrupt newsgroups. This group is known as "a.s.t" which stands for alt.syntax.tactical. There are other offshoots from the original a.s.t group in existence these days. These groups hang out in newsgroups such as alt.fan.karl-malden.nose, alt.flame, alt.bigfoot, and others.
These groups of juveniles will "invade" newsgroups and try to cause as much disruption as they can by instigating flame wars (long drawn out heated arguments) and by filling the group with off-topic posts, possibly driving all the legitimate users of the group away from the newsgroup. As I said they are organized and they have "battle plans" which they use a guidelines for invading a newsgroup. Samhain was referring to such battle plans as there have recently been some threads in alt.paranormal that were probably cross-posted to alt.paranormal by some of these guys. Sometimes they do this to try to get users in one newsgroup to start flaming others in another newsgroup where the posts originated from, although the originators of the cross-posted messages may not be the ones who cross-posted them.
The best defence against these guys is to not respond to their posts. Doing so only encourages them and also helps to clutter up the newsgroup more, which is one of their twisted objectives. You can quite often recognize a spam post from one of these groups by looking at the newsgroups field in the header. If a post is crossposted to several unrelated newsgroups and contains newsgroups such as alt.fan.karl-malden.nose, alt.flame, alt.bigfoot, etc., then it is pretty likely that the post was crossposted by one of these guys. Don't respond to such posts. When they see that their attempts to disrupt a newsgroup aren't working they will move on to another group where the users are more clued out.
Sometimes these guys will send a "scout" into a newsgroup to feel out the users and see if they are clued out enough to make a good target. These scouts will sometimes play dumb to see how easy it is to provoke people into flames. Some people here have been wondering if you (bb) are one of these, but I am inclined to think that you are not although I still have my doubts.
bb, you seem to be new to Usenet yet you said previously in a message <01bd5fbb$2fb5ab40$dffb82c1@hp-pavilion> in alt.paranormal:
>My point IS, I'm trying an experiment. Trace? I don't think so. Heard of >the ID Headtwister called 'Nut-Roast'? Obviously not............
Are you referring to a program that alters the header of a Usenet post or something else? This might help clarify a few things.
