It means that either a) you have been standing too close to a loud noise, or
b) you have got tinnitus.

I've been told that if it's in your right ear, your being talked about and
in the other ear I think it has something to do with family, although it
could be the other way round... Ah, well it's something like that. No need
to thank me I know I have been a mine of information to you!

I have heard the same thing you have and i have also heard that it means
someone is talking about you. I have also heard that if the palm of your
hand itched it means that you will recieve money. And if your nose itched
that some one was thinking about you. But I can't say if it is real...... I
feel it is just a old wives tale.

Ringing in ur ear means u have fluid in it or wax or something, itchy nose
means ur lieing because when u lie it makes something in ur nose be
realised and makes ur nose itch and make u sneeze, something like that n e
way. Dont actually know lol.

I saw a program on TV a long time ago (a few years ago, probably on Lifetime or
TLC). And it was something about these group of people all hearing a noise,
like a humming.

I can't remember the exact details. I *think* it had something to do with a
noise submarines or something made. They were able to hear that noise.

I'm sorry, I don't remember much more then that. I just now thought about it. I
can't remember the name of the show, or even the name of the phenomena. Maybe
someone else here knows what I am referring to.

I know that when everything is real quiet, I can faintly hear a ringing... but
I think that is common and harmless (as well as the ringing you hear after
listening to loud music). Then there is tinitus, but you already said that
wasn't it.

To WiccaIrish:
M.M.........I saw the same show you were referring to a few years ago. I had
forgotten about it. It referred to a specific town, where about half of the
residents heard this, and the other half didn't. From what I recall, it
wasn't a ringing that they heard, it was more of a vibrational humming.
Rather like a car engine running somewhere far off. They couldn't find the
origins, and suspected it was coming from underground, perhaps in
conjunction with the lay-lines............. Anyone else have any more info?
..........B.B...............Witchy.

Your prolly thinking of the "Taos Hum" - In Taos New Mexico - some
people claim to hear a hum that cant be traced back to any source - even
in the desert - miles from anything but the listener -
the theory is that its caused by The HAARP array -H.A.A.R.P. stands for
HIGH FREQUENCY ACTIVE AURORAL RESEARCH PROGRAM - an program of the US
Navy - an array of 180 antennae up in the alaskan arctic broadcasting
3.6 million watts of super low frequency signal up into the ionoshpere -
to communuicate with submarines on the bottom of the ocean (and some say
- to control the weather :P)

check it out for yourself

Tinitus is just the name... there is probably some fancy latin medical name for
it but it is usually just called tinitus
