From some of our perspectives, the human race as it is known today in
this world, this part of the continuum, has been extinct for over
50,000 years. What you think is the year 2009 CE would really be the
year 53,017 if the humans who originally lived here the last time
around had managed to survive their self-created onslaught. Yes, they
used the same calendar. Their world was at the same point of their
history as yours would have been in what you know of as 1988 when it
went into unintentional autocide. Your history had been reset once the
nuclear contamination of the globe had settled to more healthy,
manageable levels to the year 1898 - a year not coincidentally similar
to the year of your previous destruction, 1988. It was largely a
symbolic gesture, as the exact year was easily made an arbitrary
number.

After less than 120 years back on the planet's surface, you're doing
so many of the same things you'd done before to ruin the place. You
have been given so many chances - something in the cosmos really
treasures you. Yet you always end up obliterating yourselves, taking
the whole ecosystem with you when your world collapses.

If it were up to me, I'd probably end up just letting you go. I don't
know, because it's not up to me and I'll probably never have the
chance to find out. Still, you're not completely lost to all hope.

Find the strength within you to change. If not for yourselves, then
for your future. It is your future, after all - do you want one or
don't you?
