Astrology and pagan worship was the religion of Hitler and the Third
Reich!

Christians seek JESUS and not acceptance from others!

Check with JESUS if the Preacher is correct, don't check with the
preacher. And ask for understanding if you don't understand. Don't ask
the Preacher for understanding ask GOD.

If you want to do something dumb, go ahead ever one is watching.

Are you sure its not of JESUS. Are you not sure its of JESUS. Then why!
Do you know HIM, did you seek HIM FIRST!

Taking God, Jesus and prayer out of schools has created horrid results.

Normally I'm not one to stand on ceremony, nor do I waste vitriol on the

Yes, we are. It's rather amusing.

I talked to 'HIM'. He said, "Don't worry, Mary's just a bit of a

I said, "Okay."

Um, no... it was the "religion" of people far gone. Just because a few
stragglers use it doesn't discount any of it, or them. Did you know
that christianity was the religion of the Inquisition??

>Christians seek JESUS and not acceptance from others!

Yeah, but when they don't get acceptance they blame it on
sin and humanity and satan.

This philosphy sickens me. As if I should care what other people
think is "dumb". I'm sure the wright brothers wouldn't have gotten
very far if they thought about what society thought was dumb. Or
Jesus for that matter.

>Are you sure its not of JESUS. Are you not sure its of JESUS. Then why!
>Do you know HIM, did you seek HIM FIRST!

I'd like to hear what jesus has to say about modern christianity and its
hundreds and hundreds of sects.

>Taking God, Jesus and prayer out of schools has created horrid results.

Yeah, a bunch of christians keep bitching now that church and state
are separated. I guess they don't understand that it doesn't take a god
philosophy to have a harmonious society. In fact, the god philosophy has
spurned some pretty damn unharmonious societies.

Many societies have predicted *something* to happen in 2012.
Plus, you read RAW's Doubling Jesuses principle right? He
mentioned someone's view that by 2012 information will be
doubling so fast that /something/ must happen.

But you hafta understand that Revelations is based on past
knowledge of societies coming to an end. In fact, St. John
called his legendary Beast by the number 666, instead of
calling it what would've gotten him in trouble: Nero.

Wrong, we are growing more and more aware that religion
may not be a suitable answer for the world around us. We
are beginning to realize that the god-model has grown outdated
and that we can obtain like spirituality without the christian God.
We realize that there actually aren't such things as Objective Morals,
that whatever society deems "right" at the time is right.

There is a difference between anti-christian and non-christian

>A society, which declares right wrong and

Is every society throughout history compared with every other
society throughout history that disagreed.

>America is no longer a Christian nation, but has become a

If you were educated, you might know what a "pagan" actually
is. "Paganism" has nothing to do with whether or not God is
dead or irrelevant. "Pagans" have nothing at all to do with your
religion, and are merely practioners of a religion that disagrees
with yours, and of course is therefore "wrong".

Contrary to popular christian belief, we don't need your
christian god to live harmoniously or morally.

As open-minded as you can. That is how.

Which is why I'm agnostic, because none of us can know.
Yet, you claim to know, don't you?

>However, Paul, in these verses, does deal with one area
>where we can all impact America. An area of Christian activity that has
>the power to change society and demonstrate Christ to a lost world.

I think christians already proved with such actions as the Inquisition
what can happen if society becomes christian. How do they act?
The exact same: like animals, because that's what we are. People
are still going to have the same chemicals and motivations working
in them and the same things or going to happen. Only with christianity,
they can do it with more self-justifying zeal, and therefore feel even less
of a conscience when they off a non-believer.

Name one pagan aspect of this world and how that aspect
relates to paganism.

Well, he just reviewed doubling information with
his RAWian humor. He took the amount of information
that was in the world during the time of Christ and called
this 1 Jesus (Jesus being a unit of measure). Information
doubled to 2, then 4, then 8 Jesuses and so on at ever
accelerating rates. Information still does this, doubling
faster and faster every year. And if the trend keeps up,
by 2012 information will be doubling theoretically every
millionth or billionth of a second or something like that.
Either something must give way-- like WWIII-- that sets
back humanity and stops information doubling so fast,
or we learn how to control it. Of course I think we'll leave
the planet about that time. Then there's of course population
explosion to think about etc etc.

Some way balances? Yes.

Paul was a punk who, in his youth as Saul, relished in persecuting
Christians. Later he had a 'conversion' (on the road to Damascus,
according to him) and quickly promoted himself to the status of an
Apostle. He became a prominent hack of the 'movement' and found a niche
in ideological thought policing; his Letters are a mixture of
browbeating, self-aggrandizement and political intrigue.

His attitudes certainly qualify him to be the poster boy of
fundamentalist Christianism. I suspect Jesus of Nazareth would have had a
few choice words for/about him.

Jesus of Nazareth was a cool fella; drunk lotsa wine, hung out with the
right crowd, never had a 9-to-5 job. Of course, they nailed him for it.

There is a huge difference between information and data. Data might be
doubling at an ever-faster rate, but it does not mean that information is
growing at the same rate. The size (in bits) of a data file bears no
direct relationship with the amount (in bits) of information in it; this
is what makes (lossless) data compression possible. To use a more
accessible example: five million copies of the Bible contains exactly as
much information as one copy.

I'm not sure I get that. Actually, I'm sure I don't get that.

I suspect amphetamine derivatives. That stunt with the fishes/loaves
and the 5,000 fed must have worked through appetite suppression. I
suspect he came across some interesting chemicals while he hung out in
the desert for some days (an the Temptation might have been speed-induced
psychosis).

Oh no no no, I agree completely. That was my criticism with that view

Just so you know, the Japanese were never fooled by Christians, and
killed them all at the battle of Shimabara. Christianity was illegeal
from the 1630s to the Meiji Restoration (roughly) in Japan. As a
consequence, they were spared the domination of European masters and
became a world class power in less then 50 years. Even today, they are
the second most powerful nation in the world.

Thanks MD for pointing that out, is appreciated. sometimes the soapbox do
get slippery, but we maintain that Christianity has done more to
eradicate national religious and ethnic factors than allow them to
develope in their own fashion. Look what they did to the Druids. Sure and
I'll get a response that it was Caesar that was responsible for that, ok
he was acting for the Emporer who was acting for the good of Rome and all
of the Roman Empire, :::a loud raspberry resounds:::. But what sprang
from that dying firebrand, xtianity. Who started the Culdee? The Catholic
Church, Greek Orthodoxy as well has a role if I'm not mistaken.

If Pagans run America why are we getting the short end of the stick? Do you
really think we'd allow the 10 commandments to be posted in every school?

Except most Pagans believe in God. We believe in the Goddess too.

That's called Nazism. Our differences is what make the world an interesting

Muhahah. Reminds me of an absoloutly hilarious story.

One of my friends (who is pretty big in the LA theatre scene) was at his
friends house, with a few others, near LA (see previous note) having a good
time (read:drink, pot, etc.). As the night passed into day, and those that
weren't passed out resorted to tequila shots...there eventually can a time
when everyone left consious were down to their underwear. Soon, the "owner"
of the house had brought out the resident firearm (a Colt .45 I beleive) and
the 4 er 5 that were up at that point started playing around with it.
Suddenly comes a Knock-Knock-Knocking at the door and a Ring-Ring-Ringing of
the doorbell. The "owner" of the house nonchalantly tucks the gun in the
back of his breifs and and goes to answer the horribly annoying sound.
Throwing open the door he is confronted with the staring countenaces of four
Jehovah's Witnesses. They look each other up and down. Then, perfectly
timed, the gun falls out of his breifs and lands with a heavy *clunk* on the
floor. The "religious fanatics" exit stage left, with all the grace one can
accomplish when presented with a mostly nude, drunk'n'hi, firearm
weilding.....

My photography teacher from high school told me this one. Just to give you an
idea about this man, he's well over 6 feet tall. One Saturday morning, just as
he's finished drying off from his shower, the doorbell rings. Dressed only in a
towel and a smile, he answers the door. Standing there are 2 female Jehovah's
Witnesses. Not put off by my teachers attire, they state who they are and ask
to come in to talk about Jesus and God with him.

"Certainly," he says. As they start to come in, he adds, "But I must warn you,
I'm a nudist and in order for you to come into my home and talk to me about your
religion, you're going to have to remove every stitch of clothing you're
wearing."

Needless to say, these 2 women suddenly had someplace else to be. When he told
me this story many years ago, he said that he had never been bothered by another
Jehovah's Witness since then.

Stevie

Here's a small factoid: Hitler didn't trust astrology, though the Deputy
Fuehrer Hess was rather obsessed with it. So it more a matter the choice of
the individual, than a part of any specific religious belief.

Hitler's followers were more into a pagan-like belief system than Hitler
was....who was likely more interested in "reciting the mantra" for the
political gain alone.
Like some Christian cultists I won't bother to mention.....

Oh yeah, but according to SOME christians, Catholicism is also a pagan religion.

So the Inquisitors were heathens and didn't even know it! Gosh.....

I am aware that many Christians do not feel they have the right or the

I am sure they are as disturbed by this outbreak of bad manners and

The Romans accused the Celtic priesthood of sacrificeing folk in
wickermen. This is a highly debateable point though (whether people were
burnt in them), for the Romans were fond of war propaganda, & burning
structures don't leave much archeological evidence.

There is always the Burning Man festival done out west.
All sorts of folk, come to build a giant man & burn it.

I've seen it. It's an interesting film, but I've run into too many Pagans
in my local community that think it's a *wonderful* film. Everyone seems
to forget that it was a horror flick, and the constable didn't deserve to
be murdered (even if he is played as a close-minded bigot). The film does
a damn good job of presenting a favorable view, IMHO, of a modern
meso-Pagan community - but then they wind up being cold-blooded killers.

As a horror film, it's great - lots of buildup, no gore, and very
involving. But as a 'Pagan movie' - the type that neo-Pagans can watch
and say 'They're like us!' - it fails: the ending ruins that sense of
identification, and cutting off the ending makes the central plotline
pointless. To me, enjoying "The Wicker Man" as anything other than a
very cerebral horror film feels too much like Christian-bashing. YMMV.

<g> I have discovered that many who have seen the film thought the same. I
was fascinated by it, I'd love to know what exactly the intention was behind
it, just to be a horror movie from an era when drugs were too legal? Also
interesting is that it has been 'claimed' by paganism, even though all the
people I know disagree, more or less, with the premise of the film.

Personally I don't see the association between paganism and the village in
the film, IYSWIM...

Oh, I know what I think but I'm not so lucid today, I will return tomorrow
and clarify! <g>

Didn't the Anglicans persecute and murder thousands of catholics? I
seem to remember a lot of burned monastaries in England. And, I think
you'll find it was the Protestants who did the most missionary work in
Africa. Lets not forget to chastise the Protestants too.

Some worship the Norse gods. It really depends on whether they're
Celtic-derived pagans, or from another tradition. Only the Celts are
pussy-whipped. We Discordians do all the whipping, our Goddess likes

I believe that the Goddess religions were simply popularized by the
feminist movement, and made more press-time than those that either had
an equal balance of the sexes, or had another type of hierarchy (sp?).

I can point to myself, who believes in basically all the gods and
goddesses that are out there (each with its own set of things going
on) as an example of a pagan that isn't exactly of the 'Goddess' type,
if that helps any.

Although I would be interested to meet some of the subordinate
women that would follow that line of thought, given that the more
brutal the master is, and the harder he uses the whip, the more
dependent he becomes on the servant.

Perhaps in this case, it is the pussy that is being whipped that is
driving the car forward while you're paying attention to her rear?

The Catholic Church (and some Protestant ones, as well) tried to
suppress *some* science which was antithetical to their stance. Most
scientists from the Renaissance on at least until the last century were
practicing Christians.

At the same time, the Churches are the holders of a great scholastic
tradition; just to mention one, Mendel, who worked out the basic
mathemathics of inheritance (and proved the existence of genes without
being able to show the underlying mechanism, ie. DNA) was a monk.

Drinking kills people. Psychedelics are there for enlightenment. Would

Not everyone is pagan, and not everyone lives in the same city. I
live a few states away, in fact. Christmas is a time when everyone is
able to get some sort of a day off because of the birth of a child.

Christmas is also the time when you will have more of a chance for
those Christians and Catholics that aren't actually act somewhat like
humans (note, not all are this bad). For that, I am thankful. I don't
care if it's fake, it's a reprieve.

>Why do you need a belief cult to choreograph your celebrations?

Because the rest of the world, unfortunately, doesn't revolve
around me. Besides which, most of my family is still with that belief
system. Note I said system. None of them really attend a Church any
more, and follow Jesus' words rather than any church. I have little
problem with the words of Jesus, who I find to be an intelligent man,
just used for ill gains.

Drinking kills people who die by alchohol poisoning, yes. Stupidity
kills the rest that you are putting that label on top of. When people
get drunk and get into a car, that isn't alchohol, that's their fault.
People kill people.

Personally, I don't believe that any drug need be used for
enlightenment.

What I was stating above was agreeing to your statement that some
people will drink. And yet there are those people that won't. I will
be one of them, not because I'm not Christian, but because I don't
care for it. Christianity has little to do with the amount one drinks.

Many many more people are going to drink on New Year's Eve. That's
something that is across the board, and has nothing to do with
religion of any type. The point of that being, any time that you have
a social setting for people above 14, you'll have more drinking. Have
celebration, the rate will increase. Again, little to do with
religion.

I've been to Gathers that have more drinking than family parties.

Socially Irresponsible.

Over the Xmas / New Year period more children are taken into care than
at any other time. Social Services and Children's homes can never cope
with the influx. Every year it gets worse.

You are a drug addict Captain; as are Naval personnel generally. How
else would you fight in wars?

Press-ganging ring any bells?

This simply is untrue. Young lad like you should be enjoying your
church. What the hell is wrong with you?

Alcoholism is death, IMO

Whatever LSD brings you comes from your own mind, anyway. Who cares? It
doesn't bring you enlightenment in a little box, you have to search for it.
Everytime I've done acid it's reprogammed me in some fashion, and I carry
this with me through life and use it as a tool to bring further enlightment.

The brain just IS and it doesn't matter how you use it.

The catalyst isn't the reaction.

Have you done LSD?

Naah, I plan on smoking unheard of amounts of marijuana.
I can't smoke and then drink a whole lot, cause it makes me vomit.
Besides, when I'm drunk I feel stupid, and I only like that occasionally.

Alcohol is so much worse than LSD and Pot.
(Assuming mental well-being/preparedness)

And alcohol *is* a drug; literally poison.
