It was more of a grinding down, rather than an ass-kicking. Washington's forces won very few battles (if any at all), but winning battles does not nessecarily win a war - c.f. Vietnam, US forces win the majority of battles, but VC and NVA forces win the war. America was Britain's Vietnam.
IIRC it was quite a few years after the declaration of independence on July 4th 1776, that the United States finally came to be. And you did have quite a bit of military help from the French to secure it. The fact that you fought a war to secure independence has given your country it's strength since it's birth. If the Brits had not fought against it, I don't think the US would be the strong country it is today. I for one am not anti-US, though I'm not too impressed with the current administration, then again, I'm not impressed with the current UK government either.

Correct. The two-party system serves the ruling class, not the people.

No. they don't give a fuck about either. Those are merely the tools of oppression they use to gain votes.
Both are entirely irrelevant and totally illusory, but they serve to 'divide and rule' and are thus part of the current Great Game.

Um, they let us win dude. We were their Vietnam. We so many resources that it wasn't worth the effort to take us back.

Ha ha ha! Yeah, right. They were overextended and could not prosecute a war 3000 miles away. This "we let them win crap" is the tripe they teach in English schools
While I think this nation is good in theory, I think those people who feel it the the "greatest nation in the history of mankind" need to spend some time talking to people from other countries that love where they live. They will be more apt to give a truer opinion of this country than those who left where they were because they were failures to begin with. Also ask someone who live in or near Germany during the rise of Hitler and ask them how this country compares to Germany at that time. My mother-in-law is Swiss and her husband was lucky not to be executed by the Germans. She is apalled at this countries new laws.

| !| | !| First of all, even by its own standards, the United States is not | !| the "Greatest Nation in the History of Mankind." There are many countries | !| who surpass it, even now. | !| | !| Never mind the fact that anyone who thinks that living in an artificial | !| desert of concrete and asphalt dominated by sociopaths in high-speed- | !| armored wheelchairs where life is terrible that people have to live | !| vicariously through the Television and that has to trash the planet and | !| regularly commit mass murder to sustain itself can hardly be called the | !| "Greatest Nation in the History of Mankind." | ! | !So go live in some shithole hovel in Bangladesh, loser | | that 'shithole' has digital telephone lines, a rather proud history: | http://www.virtualbangladesh.com/history/index.html | a GDP of 258.8 Billion | a per capita purchasing power of $1900 as of 2003 | http://www.bangladesh.gov.bd/ | seems to be modeled on our own Cosnstitution... | | you need to find a nice Deep South Backwater to move to.
But enough about your ass
