Is this a product of the author's imagination? If not, I would appreciate
any references you could point me to that give a fuller description of the
Weirdin, including pictures of the various tiles.

He created it as a plot device. It has been mentioned in the past that
when people asked him about it at conventions, he seemed quite taken aback
that anyone would take it seriously.
I can't imagine why. Given the prevalence of oracular devices - from the
Tarot and I Ching to ouija boards and stones, the existence of another
would come as no surprise. Less so, since in this case de Lint has also
made use of an exisiting form of divination - the tarot - in another
of his books.
It's a shame, all told. I wonder if anyone has taken it upon themselves to
create artwork for the descriptions he gives at the end of Moonheart?
