Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone here could recommend some films which depict
the Winter Solstice (December 21)?. Perhaps a film which depicts
Yule, hich is a winter festival that was initially celebrated by the
historical Germanic peoples as a pagan religious festival, though it
was later absorbed into, and equated with, the Christian festival of
Christmas. Yule was originally a celebration of the Winter Solstice.

The festival was originally celebrated from late December to early
January on a date determined by the lunar Germanic calendar. The
festival was placed on December 25 when the Christian calendar (Julian
calendar) was adopted. Some historians claim that the celebration is
connected to the Wild Hunt or was influenced by Saturnalia, the Roman
winter festival. Customs such as the Yule log, Yule goat, Yule boar,
Yule singing, and others stem from Yule. In modern times, Yule is
observed as a cultural festival and also with religious rites by some
Christians and by some Neo-pagans.

The only film I have ever seen which even remotely depicts the
celebration of the Winter Solstice, or at least the overall holiday of
Saturnalia which historically began on December 17, and ran as a week
long extravaganza, ending on the 23rd; is "Eyes Wide Shut". This film
would appear to depict many of the sexual rites of Saturnalia during
the infamous Masked Ball scene.

Any other suggestions?

Cheers,
Pierre-André

There's also this movie which is a modern film made of an older
Arthurian story which was itself based on a story about Cúchulainn and
the Ulster Red Branch:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_of_the_Valiant
http://www.timelessmyths.com/celtic/ulster.html#Bricriu

The "beheading game" is a sort of analogy for ending the old year and
beginning the new. It is similar to the older Celtic tales wherein the
tribal king plays a game of "wood wisdom" against the king of the
underworld or the leader of the wild hunt.

The idea is that the seasons return in a renewing sense each year in
spite of the sacrifices and lessons we learn.

Laugh but "Narnia".
Golden Compass has a smidge
The Odyssey, has a Smidge
The Arthur Movie they made like late 70's early 80's has a bit
Japan and China have considerable but few reach the outside.
The Islands of Japan were "Discovered during the 2 Brothers Hunt of the
Hind".

Actually the best stuff is Gaelic and Welsh, the Frost Giants the HOAR,
Mor/Vhor or Boar.
But few movies about the truth, Fire and Frost Magi, Storm Geates, Si Pan
Green Witch, Cairbre's of Hel, are "WITCHES, GET EM"........
The world is just expanding into the Age of Enlightenment, but the Dark Ages
left deep festering wounds.

IS NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was over 1,000 Years of the Absolute Rule of the "One Church".
"Jesus replaces God, until the End of Times.
This according to Legends is "The End of Times".
But that means something different than you think, in the Jacobite Legends.

Sure...and I suppose you're going to tell us that the Scottish
Jacobites were part of the Syriac Jacobite Church too...

Go seek professional help.

There is no such legend except in your diseased and malfunctioning
imagination.

The Sidthe who Gave the Sword of Lugh/Mars to Atilla.
Read "YOUR" legends sometime.
But you are a Kitty Cat who knows nothing of the "Shape Shifters" of the Lupinaria,

Not that consistency is a part of your delusionle fantasies but YOU Lady
bare ass are the one that CLAIMED to be trying to shut down these
groups, bragged about your imaginary success at it and now you accuse
others of trying to deprive yourself of a 'fellowship' you don't want or
care for in the slightest.

So to the accusations of you being an utter and complete idiot, we must
add hypocritical liar as well.

None of which you express any better than the rest of your absurdities.

You are what you write having become what you wrote, any you "Lady"
are becoming more and more absurd with each and every post you make to
these groups

I can only hope you are not as foolish in real life as you seem to want
to appear to be here, but i am not hopeful.

Actually, he's quite a bit worse. If it wasn't for institutional
charity, he'd have been dead long ago.
