You didn't mention the price schedule. We all know that, like all

talesin,
Chill out. Just because you don't agreed with her teachings, doesn't
give you (or anyone else) the right to insult anyone.
Actually, that's actually the biggest problem with this group. Rather
than attempting to sort the wheat from the dross, everyone would
rather complain and call names. Tale sin, Moon phase, Dragon Lady,
almost all of you do this.
Can we please PLEASE get away from the name calling? And get to some
honest discussion of the craft?

These newsgroups (plural) have recently expressed concern over Dr Laura and
her message that Wicca was not a religion. If she were to monitor these
newsgroups, she would have to conclude that the "angry" participants are
clearly not adherents of any acceptable value based system, in other words,
not adhering to any established or acceptable religion.
It seems that the bitching back and forth is NOT constructive conflict, but
rather, destructive conflict. It seems this behavior is from a group of
childish antagonists and not from mature seekers of truth.
I question the values of those who find they must use foul language, such
actions are usually signs of anger, and anger is usually a symptom of fear.
Those who are thus acting, ask yourselves, what is your fear?
A second observation is that all this unattractive AND dysfunctional name
calling, which focuses on people and not problems, is very aggressive. This
lowers those who name call to the same level as those whom we are purporting
to despise.
Grow up.
While FUNCTIONAL and ATTRACTIVE do not go hand in hand, there is something
very wrong when group members are UNATTRACTIVE and DYSFUNCTIONAL.
The objective is surely to be FUNCTIONAL? Again, back to Dr Laura's
observation.
For those of you who choose to show your values by name calling and by
personal attacks: just what values do you actually support?
I am truly interested.
Tell us what your values are.
Thank you

Excuse me. I speak out against her because she leads many in the wrong
direction, has taken the precious and power knowledge of the Ancient
Ones and turned it into mindless pap just to sell books, she acts like
she is a fucking goddess, and she is nothing but a fraud.
She is a public person so she better be able to handle public scrutiny.
Why should we care what Dr. Laura thinks? Are we to mold ourselves until
we are acceptable to her?

Easy.
1) Freedom to think and express myself as I will without society,
religion, or any one person setting rules and dictating to me what is
acceptable.
2) Allowing others the same freedom.
And what are YOUR values?
thank you for your response. I shall address your points, even if they are
expressed in language not commonly accepted as effective. These are cultural
norms, and not mine, by the way!
> Why should we care what Dr. Laura thinks? Are we to mold ourselves until
> we are acceptable to her?
I agree. I used her since she has been the point of discussion in these groups
(plural). I care neither way, it seems that the collected group members think so,
otherwise why would there be so much traffic about her?
> Oh really? Then how SHOULD we resolve important issues among ourselves

> around and nodding sagely at each other.
I agree that there should be discussion. I recommend you read "Lisytening Skills"
by Madelyn Burley Allen. Commonly accepted "foul language" is commonly believed to
(1) show ingorance, and (2) often stops people listening. Whereas commonly
acceptable "good language" enhances listening.
Conflict resolution requires each to present their points and interests, obviating
positions. Thus there is a lot of benefit to be derived from conflict. I am in
full favor of CONSTRUCTIVE CONFLICT, this happens when a group is mature. An
immature group tends to have escallating and destructive conflict.

I am not suggestinf fould language is an issue of morality. I suggest, confirmed
by those who work in these fields of communication and conflict, that fould
language shows (1) ignorance - insofar as other more effective words are neither
understood nor used by the transmitter, and (2) act as inhibiting word, thus
stopping listeners from listening.
> All of this blundering in and tossing judgments about is rude and

My prefession, in which I function very well, is conflict resolution, ADR,
intervention, and group dynamics. Conflict, as I mentioned earlier, is useful.
Conflict is energy and energey is needed to solve problems. Apathy on the pther
hand solves nothing. As a facilitator I am passive to assertve based on group
stages, as a mediator I am assertive to task assetive, and seem to have a lot of
success. I suggest, Talesin, that you consider these words, perhaps your fear and
anger might be channeled into more positive areas.

Again, these words are defined in the dictionaries, should you have one, and the
merging of functionality and attractiveness to produce effectiveness ( I often
define as Fair, efficient, wise, stable, effective, adaptable, participative) is
common in works that relate to conflict and to group dynamics.
> Easy.
> 1) Freedom to think and express myself as I will without society,

I would offer again, yet again, sigh!, that you consider three points.
First, no one posseses the unfettered right to yell "fire" in a crowded theatre.
That one has been tested.
Second, I fully support your right to say anything you wish as long as you do not
cause harm to others.
Third, do you want others to listen, or, do you simply want to make a lot of
noise. The former is effective, the later is a lot of fun but ineffective.
Thank you for listening.
I find it irritating that people always post to the pagan ngs assuming that
they are in fact Wiccan.
Not everyone practices the same "craft". People have to stop treating the
pagan newsgroups as purely Wiccan ones.
I frequently see people trying to end arguments by stating things such as
"we all believe in the same goddess/god" or some silly reference to the
wiccan rule of three that should disprove another's argument.
Just had to say this, these numerous cross posts are starting to bother
me(this one's not really bad but since it has little to do with pagan
magick, and more to do with religion.wicca I'm bothered by it).
Okay everyone. We have some dipshits running around, like the one
below, who think that the "big bad nasty posters" should "post nice".
Should we give these fuckwits what they want?

Mr. Golec, I'd like very much to meet you and shake your hand. This
is precisely the reason I have waited so long to stop lurking -- I
didn't feel particularly welcome.
As can probably be told by my name, I am a follower of the Hellenistic
pantheon -- I serve Athene in her warrior aspect. Anyone who tells me
that I am in danger of being struck down by any 'rule of three' or
'karma' because of my path obviously doesn't know my beliefs very well
at all. In many cases I am forced to doubt their commitment to the
tolerance which nearly every pagan I've met pays at least lip service
to.

An *unmoderated* group usually relies on the maturity and self-restraint of
the members to maintain a socially acceptable level of decorum. You seem to
think that "freedom" means that all folks are entitled to drop their turds
wherever they wish because they *can*.
So, what do you think you are accomplishing with your command of gutter

seeking to show how powerful and discerning your *judgment* is <cough>?
Wow, can I grow up to be just like you????
So, revel in your chaos, little one. It seems to be all that you have going
for you. Enjoy the *unmoderated* forums, since no one else would want to
have your contributions. It must be quite a trip to live a life so devoid
of maturity, sensitivity, tolerance, or kindness. I pity you.
talesin,
Think you for your much more rational response than Dragon Lady.
Personally, I've always found cursing and swearing to be a sign of
anger and bitterness rather than intelligence. Also, thank you, Mr.
who stood up for me. You spoke clearer than I could.
If I were interested in everybody saying the same things all the time,
and everybody agreeing with everybody else, then I'd look at the
moderated groups. I'm interested in differing opinions, differing
thoughts on these subjects.
Dragon Lady asked (suggested) I come up with a new topic. She'll
probably flame me some more, but here goes:
Practicing (whichever) craft by the handicapped and/or disabled. This
is something of interest to me, as for most of the past fifteen years
I've been a solitary. A couple years ago I was crippled; I'm now
paralyzed from the chest down. I have no use of my hands (I use
dictation software), and am mostly bed bound. How can I start
practicing again? Any thoughts?
Talesin, I don't necessarily agree with any of ravenwolf, but I also
passionately dislike Buckland. I find what truths that I can in
whatever writings I can. I don't necessarily agreed with much of your
teachings, either; but I do try to look at things with an open mind.
I actually didn't get as many flames as I expected ... thank you.

I enjoy flames. They remind me of all the flaws in humanity.
Thank-you. I always find it much more interesting to find out about
paganism. I find it irritating that most of this ng is devoted to Wiccan's
trying to 'inform' us that our religions follow karma or the rule of three
as well.
Perhaps you should visit alt.whine
I noticed that "alt.pagan.contacts" was in the listed group.
I have removed it from my reply.
Talesin, and others, can you tell me why "alt.pagan.contacts" is being included
in this message thread?
It seems to me that "alt.pagan.contacts" is for contacting people, of whatever
tradition, or religion.
Or, it "alt.pagan.contacts" simply included there to broadcast your language
skills?

I happen to be a frequent visitor to this store. I can tell you that
'wicca' is
not this store's main staple for existance. There are many other books
in there on the HOGD, OTO, chaos magic, qabbalah, Aleister Crowley (he
has quite an impressive selection of those, I might add), Israel Regardie,
etc.
If you took his books on wicca, hinduism, tao, buddhism, shamanism, etc and
added them all together, there would be just slightly more than what he has
on heremtic orders, chaos magick and the like. He also has ritual tools,
incense, candles, jewelry and other items.

I think I have it narrowed down to three possible reasons:
1) aliens gave the original poster an anal probe and only agreed to do it
again if he crossposted to alt.pagan.contacts
2) the original poster it a dedicated Pagan who is tired of wearing glasses
3) the original poster is under the false impression that Siver Ravenwhore is
a Pagan and that a group of Pagans who are also mislead might attend her
event, resulting in "contact."

Look dickweed, it's people who wish someone else would change that
need to get clued in to reality in one hell of a hurry. How is

While I don't agree with everything Silver Ravenwolf has to say, I do respect
her for _attempting_ to do something positive for the pagan community. Even if
you don't agree with her message, it doesn't negate the fact that writing is
hard work. Even writing shitty books is hard work. Why shouldn't she get
something for all the long hours she spends on each one?

I stood up for her, because she is the one who's books first got me
interested in the spiritual side of the craft. Not to say I'm wiccan, but
many of the principles are ones I've tried to live by before I read any
books.I don't completely agree with everything she says and how she
goes about doing it, but she does deserve at least a modicum of respect
for trying. She gives a good jumping off point for people who are or will
be serious about this path.
I disagree with Tales about this basically, because he's posted messages
about the future of wicca becoming something like Christianity with breast
implants, and criticizes many of the wiccan authors writings. He is either
afraid or unwilling to do anything about it on his own, other than post
messages about it here. He strikes me as a coward on anything outside
of this NG. I've even tried to have a conversation through AOL's Instant
Messenger, and as soon as I brought it up, he first became defensive,
then 'had to go' because he had visitors. Many of his posts here are
gleeming with intellect, but if he's asked to really delve into his
reasoning
he turns tail.

HA! All she is doing is trying to make a buck.
You are just the kind of Fairy Princess Wiccan that Ravenwhore loves. You
will swallow her pap hook line and sinker. Worst of all, you think she is
some sort of Goddess. Well let me fill you in on your Goddess. She is a short
arrogant little woman who dresses like a slob and talks like a sailor. She
most certainly does not have body guards. She is a snob and will not even
talk to those she considers beneath her station (which is just about
everyone). I was at a fest with her two years ago and she attempted to do
past life regression on a group of people in an open field with a bunch of
folks milling around. Most of the participants were lucky, they just suffered
an hour or so of boredom. But a couple were badly shaken up do to a lack of
close guidance.
Poor little Princess Mari.

Its relevant because some folks go on about it being their right to post bad
language...and a lot of the posters are in the US. Maybe even the people I was
addressing. But the second part was the main point anyways.

My warning was primarily for two reasons.
1. She was discussing purely Wiccan topics in unrelated newsgroups.
2. She attempted to insult me which is not acceptable.
There are actually others but I don't wish to discuss them.

Here, class, we can see that Matthew Golec has absolute no fucking
clue between a moderated and an unmoderated NG. Moderated NGs have
some grand high bigshit saying what can/can't be posted and is able to
enforce it. For example, if there were an alt.satanism.moderated,
Xians won't be allowed to "witness" there. But in an *UNMODERATED*
NG, no one can keep someone from posting something everyone else
hates. Sure, you can have a fucking dipshit twit like Matthew Golec
running around telling folks what they can/can't post, but they can't
do diddly shit about the posts.
Now for a real challenging bit of homework class, I'd sure as hell
love to see any of you post the links to the charters for
alt.witchcraft, alt.pagan.magick, and alt.religion.wicca, and show me
where it explicitly states that Matthew Golec owns, moderates, and/or

Now here class, we can see that Matthew Golec doesn't know a fucking

you're ignorant. Now how in the name of the 9 blazing hells is that a

And here we can see a perfect example of Matthew Golec's unwillingness

I do intend to use other options. That was why I was warning you.
1. I could have this Ng become moderated.
2. I could have your Internet access revoked
3. I could have your email address shut down
There are many plans of action that could be employed.
In future please take out alt.pagan.contacts they don't like unrelated
posts.
Actually I do understand the difference between a moderated newsgroup and an
'unmoderated' newsgroup.
If you read my previous message you'd have noticed that I stated that all
newsgroups are moderated by common sense.
Speaking of which an unmoderated newsgroup can easily become moderated.

Let's see... Once an unmoderated NG is created, it can't become

it, like alt.pagan.contacts.moderated. However, that means the
unmoderated one remains unmoderated.

One other factoid I should point out here for your dubious "benefit"
dumbass Golec, if I had been sending you unwanted email, you asked me
to stop, and I continued, then chances are that you would be able to
get my Internet access and email account shut down. However, I post
to unmoderated NGs, which are a *PUBLIC* venue, not a *PRIVATE* one
like email. Even if you did get my access yanked over mere NG posts
fuckwit Golec, I'll just get another account elsewhere.
Besides fuckwit Golec, you told us you're upset because I was
crossposting to alt.pagan.contacts. However, the recent newsgroups
header doesn't even show alt.pagan.contacts in it. So... If you're
still posting to alt.religion.wicca when alt.pagan.contacts is *GONE*
from the headers, then wouldn't you think that constitutes harassment
on your part? Hmm? I wonder how that would go down with *YOUR*
ISP... I'm sure they wouldn't give a damn if you were insulted by me
or not. Just because someone spits on your shoes doesn't give you
leave to shoot the perpetrator dead.

Do you happen to know if anyone else is reading our little discussion?

Why would my ISP care? My actions do not constitute harassment.
There's nothing sadder than responding to one's own posts.

It seems anal sphincter boy (Golec) is under the delusional impression

--------------------------------
I've met Silver Ravenwolf myself. She seems like a very personable
lady. We spent several hours chatting at Starwood and I enjoyed her
point of view. I ran into her a year later at Invocation and I
found she was just as nice as when I had met her before, although
she was a lot busier. However her personality is not what I would
like to comment on.
I have a problem with the use of the word "whore" in this context.
You may dislike her work, (which is what the debate seems to be
about) or you may dislike her as a person, everyone is entitled to
their opinion. However speaking about her sexual practices really
doesn't have anything to do with her work.
I especially object to the fact that by calling a woman a "whore"
in the context in which you use it, you are reinforcing negative
male stereotypes. These stereotypes claim that women are "bad" if
they are sexually active. Even if Silver chose to have multiple
partners, that does not make her a bad person. For many Pagans I
know sexuality is a beautiful part of their spirituality.
I also think that on the whole that denegrating women in a feminine
based spirituality is really a dumb thing to do.
Merry Meet,
Aurora
I spent most of my NG time in a place where quite a few people used
such language and it was socially acceptable there. Perhaps you
might want to check it out Dragon Lady, you might enjoy it.
It is: alt.slack (The NG for the Church of the SubGenius)
They tend to enjoy flaming each other as well as anyone else who
happens to wander by. Just a suggestion.
> The true problem arises with the American obsession with free speech.
Isn't that why many folks left the "old country"?
Oh well...I really do enjoy our little discussions. They are so much more
interesting than reading posts by people requesting love spells or teachers.

Now, you may wonder, what on earth or over yonder is that guy talking about.
Well, I just wanted to say that this has got to be one of the best flames I´ve
read for a long time. Where (outside Usenet) did you learn to post like that?
Can anybody learn it? And finally, would it help if I put myself and the
computer inside a magic circle, spoke three curses and burned black candles
while posting?
Moments later, I put on my protective charms and rings, got the amulets and
chanted the chants then ventured to http://www.neto.com/wildcard/ and well,
it´s very nice ;)

Stupid question in my case, as I am currently "between jobs". However, I do
need money to survive, which means I'll probably have to take some job for
the money. In other words, unless I find a job I love which also pays, I'll
have to become a "whore" (by the definition I gave).
Explain.

Well I used the "bleeding shit waffle slime" before, and someone loved

Beats me. Sometimes I have my rare moments. I guess I got tired of
using "fuckwit" all the time. So I had to come up with something
else.
>Can anybody learn it?
Sure! Just practice, practice, and did I mention practice?

I bet you were surprised that my page didn't require all the
protective gear in order to view it, eh? About the only thing you'd
have a need for all that protection would be when I'm talking about
food. I have the knack to make others hungry.

MKB is one of the great mysteries. I use it to differentiate myself

Aw, come on Laura. I don't want this shmuck. He's too much of a

handfuck Golec with dipshit Shez though.

That sounds odd. Your ISP doesn't even carry soc.religion.paganism?
That one's moderated too. If it doesn't carry that group, then you've
got one loser ISP there.

Hee hee! Well, I figured since he was so interested in reading my
posts, and knowing how you like to matchmake Laura... Hmm... I
wonder of Usenet posts are a form of love spell...
But I guess Golec gets upset with people who ask for love spells
because he is a loser in love.
