From the crest of Olivet
"From the crest of Olivet, Jesus looked upon Jerusalem. Fair and peaceful was the scene spread out before Him. It was the season of the Passover, and from all lands the children of Jacob had gathered there to celebrate the great national festival. In the midst of gardens and vineyards, and green slopes studded with pilgrims’ tents, rose the... more »

Fix for: Win2k in VmWarePlayer for legacy apps requiring a hardware dongle and modern graphics support.
If anyone is looking for a fix to run W2K under a VM this did the trick for me ... I had to upgrade W2K (in the VM) to unofficial service pack 5.1 available at Major Geeks. Don't know what it added but it allowed VmWare tools to finally install and graphics (>640x480 VGA) now work along with... more »

Product Key finders - reliable?
This is not Windows 2000-specific but I've found the knowledge here a bit more hardcore and the Windows 7 group I've used is absolutely useless. W2k on eBay etc
I mostly use Linux Mint 11 now but I have an mp3 player that could do with Windows 2000 or XP as Creative never made later drivers for it. I've seen that there are still apparently some copies of W2k around, but wonder if they are to some extent counterfeit or otherwise useless. Some on eBay are described as 'full' editions but still in... more »

Backup and Restore
What suggestions do you have for backing up and restoring the HD's in Win2K, oh fellow stick-in-the-muds? Over the years I've had a couple of HD failures, one under Win3.1 (restore from floppies), one under NT (re-install OS), and the latest a couple of years ago when I had PATA drives and a Ghost backup. Now... more »
