  W2k sp4 on a little desktop system. &lt;br&gt; On and off for years, I&#39;ve had a little problem printing. Very sporadic. &lt;br&gt; Perhaps once a month, I&#39;ll print something, and spoolsv.exe will hang, &lt;br&gt; eating 99+% of my cycles and overheating my cpu. I have to kill spoolsv &lt;br&gt; with Process Explorer. &lt;br&gt; I&#39;ve tried sysinternals and various approaches to no avail.

  Ok, but I can&#39;t see the point of doing it that way, when booting from &lt;br&gt; the CD and choosing the R (repair) option will effectively do the same &lt;br&gt; thing. That&#39;s probably why I&#39;ve never tried it! &lt;br&gt; Ah! Misunderstood you there. Yes, it&#39;s easy enough to remove a &lt;br&gt; spurious boot option if that&#39;s all the problem is.
