Using XP SP3, Firefox and OE.
There is a Government learning site which will not allow me to access
certain modules. It is well known that it does not work well with Firefox.
It has no problems with Windows 7 and IE8.
It does not like my IE6 too much
If I upgrade my IE6 to IE8 will this affect my OE in any way?

Thanks.

'In any Way' ?

You need to do a line-by-line' code review to know the answer.
Good luck getting the source from M$

BTW
I feel your pain with US Government sites. :o
I recently had to remove the more Secure Java 7 for Java 6 required by a
'required for VA (contract) employment' training.
The FTC required IE (with additional plugins) to watch some hearings :(

I perform a lot of computer upgrades and occasionally have a problem
with IE8 and XP. I'd go and give it a try. It will probably work ok.
If not, uninstall IE8 reboot and install IE7

The site is British crap.

It would help if you gave the link to the problematical site. That way
others can troubleshoot it, too.

I upgraded to IE8 on XP and still use Outlook Express 6 with no
problem.

I tried IE7 and had so much trouble that I had to remove it in Safe Mode.
IE8 seems to be OK BUT I don't use it as such (blocked in firewall) but the
drivers and files haven't caused trouble with XP Pro SP3.

Cheers.
All I need is a browser to access that site 100%. Seems the only one is IE.
Chrome won't do it.

I've never had a problem with IE7 so if you want to just go with that
you should be OK

OTOH no harm in trying IE8
