I had a modem failure that was eventually fixed.
When I then signed on after fix I was Prompted to "Add (New)
Hardware" (something definitely with the word "audio" in it..sorry I
can't be more specific).
I said OK, the Add Hardware Wizard came up, but after 2 minutes of
"searching: it said new hardware could not be added and I should try
to
find Installation Disk.Had no idea what disk for Audio they were
speaking of.
I tried to follow most of the online fixes suggested but every time I
get to my
Hardware screen in My Computer it says No Audio Device, and everything
including the volume slider is greyed out and in accessible.
I think I had a RealTek something (again sorry this was never an
issue before Modem failure) before and everything sounded great.
What does one do when I can't even access the Screen areas that
theoretically fix this fairly common issue? I have a great music
collection and love You Tubes neither of which can I now enjoy.
Any suggestions appreciated (can a Modem reinstall somehow delete an
audio player..everything else is working fine.
Thanks.
