I am having a strange problem with a serial port (/dev/ttyS0) which I am
trying to use to connect to the console port on a VAX. At certain times
(and I haven't been able to completely predict it), the port will receive
a hangup signal, throwing the terminal emulator (I've tried Kermit (C5A)
and cu (Taylor 1.6)) session out. When I try to connect again, Kermit
just hangs, and if I restart Kermit I am told that I can't set the baud
rate on the port (obviously it is locked). When experiencing this with
cu, and I re-connect, whatever I type generates a write error and cu exits.

If I logout, the port still remains in this state, and there are no processes
left running on this port. Unfortunatly, I have to re-boot in order to get
the port back to a usable state.

Does anyone have any ideas? I am running Linux 2.0.10.

Regards,

Dave.
