Start xterm in maximized mode

How can I maximize an xterm window when it is created? There is an '-
iconic' option but its opposite is clearly missing. I would expect "-
maximize"? I can use geometry to specify a large size but its not
quite the same. Thanks!

Actually there are three cases - normal, iconified and maximized.
There's no command-line option
for this, but (assuming that the allowWindowOps resource isn't
disabled), xterm does respond to
a "maximize" escape sequence. One could set an environment variable
that's visible to the shell
started in xterm, and use that to decide when to send the escape
sequence.
