Is there anyway to run compiz (fusion) effects without the ati
drivers...???
I'm using opensuse 11.2 and my video card is Ati Radeon XPRESS 200M...
I cant find any solution...The only thing I get when I run fusion icon is
to have no borders and no effects....Any solution???
Thanks in advance....

Wny not to use the ATI drivers? (they worked well for me).

Prior to trying the latest ATI driver installation, be sure you have the
following kernel packages installed:
kernel-desktop
kernel-desktop-devel
kernel-source
use yast to find them, and select the correct flavor of your kernel
(desktop/server/xen).

Once installed, you can use the catalyst ./*.run auto-builder to install
the driver.

good luck.

or add repo:
http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_YaST_Package_Repositories#ATI_Video_drivers

and just upgrade with yast, ati driver or auto installed.

i have a laptop with a ati graphics card and compiz ran without any
configuring to the graphics card. if you are trying to run compiz-fusion
from the installed dvd/cd version. Go to the opensuse web site and install
the latest version of compiz-fusion from there that should take care of
your problem.

if you scroll down in this news group you will find people had a similar
problem with compiz-fusion.
