Login Retries on 12.1

Hi All,
If I have a typo when logging in to my 12.1 OpenSUSE installation via
ssh or telnet, I get kicked out and have to re-connect.
In earlier versions, I had three attempts. I have hunted for a
retries parameter anywhere, but can't find where it would be. I would
have thought the logical place would be /etc/login.defs, but only have
the FAIL_DELAY parameter there.
Anybody with any ideas?
