Finding a serial monitor tool

Hi, I want to use a serial monitor program. After searched google, I found two: serialmon and serlook, but the 'serialmon' seems too old and can not run on my slack 12.0, on the other hand, serlook looks moderm but I requires X. Since I need to run the program in a server without X, so I need a monitor tool doesn't require X. Do you have any suggest?... more »

disabling touchpad

Hi, I have synaptics touchpad in my Asus C90 but I preffer to use USB mouse in KDE. The problem is that I don't know how to turn off touchpad as it is really annoying when using keyboard. Thanks for all suggestions, Regards, PKajak

Slackware 12.1. I use mpg123 OK, next day I try to use it again, no joy, so I reinstall it, works until next time. Any ideas

Dear Experts, I found a solution for the Subject by substituting xorg-server-1.4.0.90-i486-1 with a self compiled later version of xorg-server-* (including the patch "XKB: Fix processInputProc wrapping"). But then shouldn't I recompile further (which?) X-packages to make this flawlessly working? Or will a new Slackware release be coming soon?... more »

slackware 12.1 and xircom XEM5600, eth0 not defined

I've upgraded a number of PCs from 12.0 to 12.1 successfully, but my one notebook (Dell 3800) appears to have a small configuration issue. In previous slackware releases, the notebook's Xircom XEM 5600 network/modem card was setup correctly at system boot. After the upgrade to 12.1, my eth0 device is not being defined during system boot.... more »

Has anyone managed to get Sirius internet radio working on Slackware? I've tried various tricks I found which are supposed to work on other distros, but no luck so far. Andy

I m using Windows XP and Fedora core 5. Both are installed in my hard disk. I want to use VMWare to avail parallel desktop. Is it possible ???

Chaps, trying to run Xnest connecting to localhost, i.e.: bash-3.1$ Xnest -query localhost :3 But it does not get a login screen. I've made adjustments in /etc/X11/: Xaccess: * #any host can get a login window And xdm-config ! SECURITY: do not listen for XDMCP or Chooser requests... more »
