My last CRT went up in smoke. No mistaking the smoke roiling outta the
back. Turned it off. Been expecting it fer mos.
So, gonna finally spend my hard earned SS on a new flat panel. My remote

There is a nice slackbuild from Alien Pasture's for OpenJDK 7u3, which also has working binary packages. However, there is a new OpenJDK 7u4 released as a single zip archive, and I would like to try to build it. Has anyone had success building 7u4 with the above mentioned SlackBuild? gv in -current

Hi group,
Has anybody tried gv in the -current branch? On my machine, it
stopped working after one of the latest updates. Namely, gv segfaults
with the following messages:

I'm trying to compile Pan (the newsreader) on a new install of Slackware-
current. But the configure script is saying that it can't detect gnutls. I have gnutls-cli, gnutls-cli-debug and gnutls-serv binaries. All are version 2.12.7 which is, I believe, the latest for Slackware.
Does anyone know what I'm missing?... more »

Follow Up to Windows Problem

I was certain the problem was hardware, specifically
a failing hard drive. That would be the only explanation
for similar behavior if it were a linux system.
I was wrong, and my friend found her own solution.
She booted off the Windows 7 install disk and "repaired" the system. It was fast, so I am not... more »

kradview build problem

Hi,
I have some xrays on a cd that I want to look at and they are in the DICOM format. A program that supposedly reads this format is kradview-1.1.0 (lastest version). I have the code but it is from 2008 and not compatible with newer versions of qt and kde. I downloaded a 'safe' version of qt3 for slack13.37 and with some soft links I have managed to... more »

Can I just upgrade V13 with a new kernel + initrd for USBstik booting?
My version 13 fails to boot from USBstik or Compact-Flash.
The docos for initrd suggest that the necessary modules can be
added for an initrd.gz to complete the booting.
