Description: Questions, answers & general talk of Slackware Linux.

Audio predicting what I was already thinking. In the next 7 days Obama will concoct some great event, bomb Syria, you name it.
... Oh, Obama is "One and Done" and Romney's President like you predicted over and over and over again? What planet do you live on? ... Projecting will get you nowhere, loser. I'm still waiting for your apology regarding my Internet speed. [link]... more »

import stereo sound from blue socket
The blue socket on e.g. a sound card or motherboard is alleged to be line input. I can set up a stereo device to send sound to this socket. How do I coax Slack 14 to input this sound? Later on I can use some ripper program to build up a file for burning a cdrom. But how does Slackware recognize that I have an audio file to send and store?... more »

X multilingual?
Hi, want ot choose Slackware as my regular os because like very much the idea of elegance through simplicity and minimalism. However when reading the comparative description: [link] there's something which worries a little... i.e. the feature "Multilingual" is specified as unsupported... what does it mean... more »

Reliability of wireless connection?
I have a requirement for a 24/7 wireless connection to a network. I have tried various combinations of pci/pci-e wireless cards and 80211g or 802.11n. All my attempts have used wicd to open the connection. In one case the computer is in the same room as an AT&T U-verse gateway. In another case the computer is two walls away from... more »

Anyone using Blender?
I tried the Slackbuild and also a later version downloaded from the Blender site. Both versions take me back to the kdm signon screen. Never had a program do that to me before. Slack 14 64 BIT. John Culleton

Anybody using Intel's compilers on Slackware 14.0 x86_64?
Before I sign up for it I would like to know if there are any installation issues using Intel's 2013 non-commercial compilers on Slack 14. TIA, Paul

Big Birthday Coming Up
I just saw something that reminded me to check, and come July 17th, SLackware turns 20. I thought I was late, but I've been using it since early June of 2001, so I just missed the first eight years (though yes, those 8 years were more significant than the past 12). I'd like to think this will factor into the next release, but with just... more »

switch form Gentoo
I enjoy Gentoo but want os for a weaker machine (netbook etc.) which makes thus wholesome compilation somewhat cumbersome... Please, address the 2 questions: 1.) Is there any problem to rely routinely upon self-compiled monolithic kernel? 2.) Is there any problem to use GRUB bootlader instead of LILO or... more »

Yanking Broadband From the Slow Lane
... Grow the fuck up, kid. ... [link] ... You're as right about my Internet speed as you were about Obama losing, loser. BTW, I posted my Internet speed to you the last time you called me a liar and you ignored the reply. Planning to do the same this time,... more »
