Here's what the CHKrootkit scan indicates: "WARNING: Hard link count is wrong for `/proc' (saw only st_nlink=112 but we already saw 110 subdirectories): this may be a bug in your file system driver. resolution on nvidia geforce 6 series

Hi all, I installed slackware 13 & my video card is onboard (geforce 6 series), my screen resolution can't get 1024x768 whereas my old linux can. my new slack only can 640x480 & 320x240. nvidia driver is installed from NVIDIA-Linux-x86-185.18.36-pkg 1.run file. how can I apply 1024x768 resolution ? solution please... more »

.htaccess question

I have a fresh install of Slackware 13. I get .htaccess to work on all directories EXCEPT the htdocs web directory. Apache just seems to ignore it when its there. Any thoughts? Thanks, s

checkinstall and slackware 13?

Hello I was using checkinstall in order to create slackware package easily. Apparently, it does not works anymore. Anybody here using checkinstall? Or another equivalent? Which one? Thanks

dos2unix in /usr/bin woud be nice

I know what you are thinking. Why in the earth would a true Slacker that stays away from DOS and MS products need with a "dos2unix" command. Well it turns out it is very handy when writing bash scripts. If you have a script that you run with cron that captures stdout results to a file to mail using "cat" and "mailx", you sometime have a carriage... more »

Has anyone had the problem with firefox where you click on an embedded email address and you suddenly get an unending opening of tabs? We're talking hundreds of tabs. Does anyone know what that's about? Or would you rather waste time discussing justlinux.ca? cordially, as always, rm

wifi question

Hi, I have a slack13 box which is connected to the internet on one side and a router on the other. The router is hardwired to one pc and I have successfully tested the wifi properties on another. I just got a laptop, repartitioned it and installed slack13, with no problem. The windows7 system on the laptop finds the router ok but I haven't been able... more »

K3b crashes

Hi. Using slack 12.2 and K3b that comes with it. When burning data DVDs, K3b will crash when starting the verify process... The DVD tray is sticking out and nothing is happening... John.
