That didn't help either (wierd error messages) . but I installed the
Nvidia driver and after several bouts of fiddling and a few reboots I
got just what I needed:
1. Large print on console sessions.
2. choice between zoom levels.
3. panning.
I had to run the NVIDIA driver package twice, once to cripple another
driver and once to install Nvidia. Then I added a
Modes
line to the xorg.conf that the Nvidia driver install program created.
So far this trick doesn't work on Salix because Salix doesn't have all
the kernel source files that the full Slackware 13.37 has.
So basically I am back to the capabilities of Slack 13.0 but with
newer libraries. Life is good.
