Not necessarily. It was down the other day too, so it may be
some other issue.

Note they already announced a more or less freeze on Wednesday, if
that's what you're wondering about.

The Changelog said there were some things to do, and there'd be
updates for security, but it was more or less finished.

If I had to guess, I'd say this was related to the data center fire in
Seattle on the 3rd. A traceroute stops at the IP address holder's entry
point (sac-main.cwo.com: Coastal Web Online). Though they claim to be a
Sacramento firm, the hop before that is in Portland, Oregon, so I'm
guessing that's not entirely true.

Seems that some servers suffered water damage, so this could take a while.
With 48 hours and counting, I'd be researching a new firm by now.

Given the nature of slackware.com I don't think its a great problem if its
down for a few days, unless I'm missing something about the build process
for current. If it is the latter its a bigger issue.

The alien repository also lives there. I wouldn't have minded to have
access to it during the last couple of days. Nothing vital, but still...

You're right. I guess I'm just a bit too reactionary sometimes. (And I
suppose my kids would take exception to the sometimes. ;-) )

On the other hand, with RC1 just announced, this is not a real good time to
have a server outage. Luckily it appears to have happened after the major
mirrors had all sync'd the July 1 changes.
