Missing rc.hotplug in 12.2

After a clean install from dvd, I looked for rc.hotplug in /etc/rc.d/
and could not find it there or anywhere else for that matter.

How do I enable the hotplug support then? And why is the file missing?

But you do have the udev and hald daemons and their man pages.

Hotplug package was dismissed since 11.0.

hotplug has been discontinued since 12.0 as its functionality has been
absorbed by the udev/hal combination:
