If at the point of installation I put in English (GB) and what ever kind of
Chinese the young lady tells me I need to install. Can I end up with one
user using English (GB) and the other using Chinese? I ask as I installed
Chinese for both the user and KOffice on an extra user on my system and
found that all I got was a series of squares.
Would they be better off with GNU/Linux and B2D Linux?
Is this the right place to ask this question?

I have had my question answered, may I extend my thanks to all those who
whilst they may have given the problem some thought, have yet to make a
reply, thank you all.

I've never tried anything like this but I know you can do something
called "font substitution" in 'qtconfig'. Take a look at the "Fonts"
pane as it is pretty well explained what is to be done.
Don't know if this is the answer to your problems but I think its worth
giving a try.

Thank you for your suggestion, I will investigate. However I have had an
answer from someone who suggests that the font rendering doesn't work with
two such different orthographies and suggesting that I continue with the
previous workaround.
