10.2 and test26.s kernel

Not knowing what that kernel is supposed to do . . .
I made my own installation cd disks # 1 and # 2 (something on them may
not but may be slightly awry).
I initially picked the test26.s and it did really well. But then at
end of installation required me to choose a kernel and test26.s was
not/no_longer offered as a choice so I picked adaptec.s
It runs super!!! with the 2.4something kernel.
So now I wonder: Is something wrong with my installation cd disk or is
it supposed to behave like that with test26.s NOT offered as a choice
at end of installation?
If the installation cd is not the prob then how or can I use test26.s?

Nope. It did what it was designed to do. Had you scrolled to the bottom of
the list of kernels, you would have found a selection to skip kernel
selection and use the kernel that was used during installation. Had you
chosen that, test26.s would have been installed.
If you go back and re-do it, don't freak out on the first boot. You'll get
warnings about missing modules. It's a trivial fix. Just install the
kernel-modules and alsa-driver packages from
/testing/packages/linux-2.6.13. Go ahead and install kernel-source from
there as well if you need it for installing NVidia drivers or some such.

install, then move ye schooner t' a 2.6 kernel.

Arrrr, ye can installpkg yese'f a 2.6 kernel from the testing/
directory. Be sure t' read the warnin's in ye olde README file first,
arrrrrr.......

Yes, I thought of 2.4 then 2.6. When I do it, it will be my first
time. (I'm guessing I may able to avail of a fall_back --, that is to
say, the ability to choose to boot either kernel if I desire to do so).
I not know much about it. But I have once edited the lilo config as
well as run lilo a few times.
Slack 10.1 with 2.4something kernel been "navigating" the high seas of
my workstation/desktop world for me with KDE desktop for since near
February when it came out. It's dauntless!!!!!!! A ship that cannot
be brought down!!!!!

I did scroll all the way to the bottom of the list. then scrolled back
up and then back down again. And, my response was "huh, how do I make
sense of this?"
I think I saw that (I'm sure that I did see it the entire list top to
bottom). But, if I'm not mistaken, it made (to me) appearance of to
install a or the "default" kernel (such as perhaps bare.i ???)
When I saw it, I do not recall any reference from within it to "the
kernel that was used during installation" or else I definitely would
have made that choice and hence this post/thread would not have
occurred either.
Anyways, whatever the icons, whatever the wording, whatever the
appearance, it did not appear to me that to do so would install the
test26.s
This seems to be concerned with such as the "what does something mean"
As in a terminology. And, what does that term mean.
