Have recently installed Slackware 13.0, my first real attempt to run
Slackware.

Am trying to listen to the audio stream from KFI,
<http://www.kfi640.com/> - the "Listen Live" button in the upper left
hand corner, but am failing with the following error message, "We have
detected your system is missing a plugin that is required by our
player. Please download the appropriate plugin from the following link
then try again.
Follow these instructions to install MPlayer on your system,
<http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/projects.html#unofficial_packages>,
or go to your update manager and search for "Mplayer Movie Player", or
open a terminal and type "sudo apt-get install
mozilla-mplayer"(Debian) or "sudo yum install
mozilla-mplayer"(Redhat)."

Don't see an mplayer plugin on the Slackware mirrors, nor can I can
find an mplayer plugin on Slackbuilds.org. The list of Mplayer
Unofficial Packages,
<http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/projects.html#unofficial_packages>,
purporting to be a Slackware build script by Herbert Alexander
Faleiros, doesn't appear to have any content for Slackware, much less
version 13.0.

What software do I need to listen to the KFI stream using Firefox
3.5.3 on Slackware 13.0? What's the best way to install it?

As su, make a dir in /tmp called mplayer. Download:

mplayerplug-in-3.55-i486-1.txz

...to that dir, then, from that dir, invoke pkgtool and follow the
prompts, which will install the package. Close, then restart your
browser. Check the about menu for plugin/addons. You should see:

Windows Media Player Plug-in
mplayerplug-in 3.55

...which will indicate package install properly.

I'm listening to KFI, now.

Well, that was easy, once I knew where to find the mplayerplug-in.
Thanks!

I added the plug-in and with the default slack mplayer can now view
both mpg and wmv files, which is nice. What does the above pkg add to
mplayer?
