Hi, RM

Be aware that you let your lease on the justlinux.ca domain lapse in
September, and I have acquired it.

Your posting email address (r...@justlinux.ca) is no longer valid.
Please change your posting address as soon as possible; I don't want to
receive any stray emails directed at you.

Thanks

Deal with it, dumbfuck. About the only place we used that domain
was on usenet. And, well, we don't use usenet all that much anymore.
Or haven't you noticed?

We would like to point out that justlinux.ca has been targeted by
small assholes, much like yourself, (but a little more
knowledgeable) for years now. If you put any machines online with
that domain - and we can't be bothered checking to find out - make
sure that all your ports are closed...

> Thanks

You're welcome to it.

We always felt a little guilty using that domain name with a dual
boot system anyhow...

Is there a reasonable recourse if someone does abuse your domain on
usenet? I imagine such abuse would have to be pretty egregious in order
for an nntp provider to suspend someone's account (though obviously some
providers will be better than others in this regard, an abuser will try
to find one which is lax).

My position here is not to provoke a war; I'm simply asserting my rights as
the current leasor of the justlinux.ca domainname, by informing an
infringing party that the infringement has been noticed and should not
continue. If it comes to legal or quasi-legal action, then I've at least
satisfied my responsibilies.

At this point, I don't really know if there /is/ a reasonable recourse,
assuming that RM continues to infringe. I'm certain that if I ask the the
appropriate abuse@ people to look into RM's use of my domainname in his
usenet postings, they will take /some/ action. But, with the relative ease
that a person can shift from one news-server to another, and with
anonymizer services that would permit him to post without being tracable
(remember that anonymous troll who hated PGP signed messages?), I doubt
that I can force him to stop (assuming he /does/ continue) outside of
costly legal means.

OTOH, at least the few forums that he posted to this last week or so
(according to Google Groups, r...@justlinux.ca last posted just over a year
ago) now know that r...@justlinux.ca is not a valid email address and that RM
has lost his claim on the justlinux.ca domain.

Too bad you would have to hire a lawyer, eh chump? That's what
happens when you major in "Communications."

It seems to us that you are calling for a return of the anonymous
"troll" who objected to the tiny minds who routinely pollute this ng
with their pathetic little games. You crave the old days where all
anyone could do is talk about the "troll" while you were ignored.

Unless, of course, you were the troll. Were you the troll? Or were
you the guy who was generally ignored?

Actually, we have not lost our claim. Since your hijacking of the
justlinux.ca domain was done only to cause trouble, and you have yet
to use your "ownership" of the justlinux.ca for any reason other
than to attempt to goad us, you would lose that domain, and damages,
if it came to any court case. Just look up the case law, cutie.

We submit that you had better start using that name for a legitimate
purpose, because, if you don't, you'll not only have to give the
domain up, but you will have to pay us damages for its use up until
now.

We'll just sit back, relax with a diet coke, and watch while you get
busy. Oh, and we have the luxury of not having to worry about
hiring a lawyer... since we know that the damages against you will
exceed filing costs...well, we'll just sit back, with the diet coke,
etc., etc.

That would be the kind of damages you incur by loss of internet access to a

Sorry, but I ruled that idea out before I leased the domainname.

I'm trying to prepare JustLinux.ca as a vehicle for Linux knowledge, and not
as a platform to annoy or provoke a specific person. Giving out email
addresses would only inflame the situation.

Sure. Real Soon Now...

Seeing is believing. We're willing to bet that nothing of the sort
comes out of justlinux.ca, at least not while you hold the domain.
If you were serious about a "vehicle for Linux knowledge" you would
have picked a more appropriate name, and you would have done so long
before now.

Why did you steal the domain?

Yep. In any case, we didn't steal your domain. But we will set one
up, as we said earlier, to give outed linux gays a place to gather.

We may even set up a gay blog at LewPitcherIsGay.ca hosted by none
other than Lew Pitcher! (with Lew Catcher making the occasional
appearance...)

You asked for it. Now if you bend over, it may not hurt so much...

You're right. He doesn't annoy us. Of course, you don't speak for
us and we don't speak for you. As to whether you, yourself, are
annoyed... who cares?

Sorry, sweets. But there is no "we" where you're concerned. Not
now and not ever.

Speak for yourself.
Realto is a troll - why do you feed it?

I read this newsgroup because I'm interested in using slackware. I'm not
interested in troll feeding or troll bashing.

Now you posted this at 19.21 on a Sunday, so were presumably not at work,
and therefore not obliged to use your employers computers, yet for
someone "interested in using slackware", you have continued for some
considerable time to post to this group using one or another variations of
Microsoft if the header:User-Agent: OpenXP/4.10.7369 (Win32) (i386), is to
be believed. If you are "interested in using slackware", perhaps actually
using it might assist you in achieving your declared ambition.

Using a sig delimiter, -- and an attribution of the source of the sig
line you use would also be a step forward!

He did not steal it.

The domain expired, the grace time expired, it was then made freely
available, freely available to him, you, me, or even Verizon.

It certainly is not stealing when you neglected to re-register it and the
(typically) 60 day grace period passes, thats good enough for the
registrar to decide you can't want it again, so they make it available,
they are not going to hold it for 10 years on the off-chance you might
some say want to keep it registered.

Stealing is if it was currently registered to you, and someone falsified
your details to obtain crontrol of the domain, and, you can prove beyond
doubt that was the case, then and only then will the domain dispute board
(dunno whats its called in ARIN's district) investigate and even remotely
consider terminating the new registrants details and restore it to, but
this can not happen since it was an expiration issue.

Yeah, he stole it.

True enough. But nobody else stole it. Only him.

Well, yeah, he did steal it. Whether we wanted to keep it or not,
he stole it.

Blah, blah, blah. If we wanted to make an issue of it, we could and
would. But we're going to have fun in other ways.

He stole something that belonged to us and now he has to pay the
price.

And you can bugger off, as well.

He didn't. He registered it after you let your lease expire. Big
difference, dumb ass.

For the same reasons that you refuse to use a sig delimiter. Because he
wants to.

Really?

Doesn't look like it. Do you *ever* actually use Linux?

Because you're a troll yourself?

Bugger off, Win-droid sig thief.

Oh, ok, why did he lease it after our lease expired?

That line speaks for itself, if not for you.

And "bugger off", is our line, doofus. Try to come up with something
of your own, ok?

Because it was available, and he wanted it. Same reason as why anyone
else would lease any available domain that they wanted. There wasn't any
"stealing" involved.

Bugger off, troll. Go back under your rock and stay gone longer next
time.
