Hi.

We recently did a network install of Fedora 10 on a Dell Optiplex 760,
which is an x86_64 architecture. Although we have successfully
installed Fedora 10 on other Dell i686 and x86_64 machines, we're having
a problem with this one.

The network installation itself went smoothly. However, the system
seems to be somewhat flakey. The problem is that sometimes immediately
after someone has logged out from the console (using graphical mode),
the display indicates loss of signal. The green lights on the computer
remain on. However, one can't raise a terminal from the console
(neither graphic nor text). In addition, the machine cannot be pinged.

Note that this error is episodic. The machine has run for as much as 47
minutes (with 10 different user sessions) before a crash. Another time,
the machine crashed immediately after a single user session.

The only recovery we've found is a hard reboot.

We have played around with the boot perameters. For example, in
/boot/grub/menu.lst, we added the kernel boot option "acpi=ht". (Prior
to this change, the machine wouldn't even boot properly.) All to no
avail.

If any of you have suggestions, we would deeply appreciate them.
Thanks.
