Hi best Linuxers,

I am working with Mandriva 2010.

I just bought a Integral Mobile card reader which I connected to my
computer and Mandriva seems to no recognize/support the reader.
Nothing happens, in the media the reader is not mentioned.
I did some research and learned learned the reader is often not
recognized by printers.
So I'm now searching for a SD/SDHC reader Mandriva supports.
Could you let me know one or a few readers Mandriva will support?

I bought also a canon legria fs 306 camcorder. Didn't test it with
Mandriva, because I'd prefer to work with a reader. But does anyone
know whether this camcorder is supported by Mandriva 2010? Connecting
it to the computer could be an alternative to a card reader.

Thanks in advance for all info you can provide.
V.

The reader will not show up if it's empty. What happens if you plug an SD
or SDHC card into it?

To see if the reader is being seen by the system, try "lsusb" as root in
a konsole and check the output for your card reader. Odds on it will be
there.

Don't know what you're getting at here.

I've never used a card reader that isn't supported by Linux.

How are you connecting this? AFAIK you can't connect a card reader to
devices such as a camcorder or printer. They are meant to be used in a
computer as an interface between SD/SDHC/MMC/XD etc. cards and the USB.

Have a look at http://www.kdenlive.org/video-editor for possible info.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I meanwhile found the card reader SIYTEAM and this shows up
immediately with contents and everything.
The other even with a card doesn't show up.
The output of lsusb is the following:
[root@localhost viviane]# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 004 Device 005: ID 058f:6366 Alcor Micro Corp.
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

Don't know whether the reader is listed.
