Club Members: How To Download OpenOffice.org 2.0 RPMs
-----------------------------------------------------
OpenOffice.org 2.0 RPMs are available in the new Club RPM section
simply called "Club software". In order to configure this section for
urpmi and rpmdrake, follow the instructions available in the media and
mirror configurator available at the following URL:
http://club.mandriva.com/xwiki/bin/Downloads/MirrorFinder
I read the pages at the end of both of those links. The section on how
to download contained this urpmi.addmedia command (w/o the linebreakes):
urpmi.addmedia "club.club_x86-32_2006"
https://myacct%40mydom.com:PASS...@dl.mandriva.com/rpm/club/2006.0/i586/
with hdlist.cz
There was a suggestion that --wget might be needed. It is for me since
the curl default doesn't work for me. Running the above command didn't
work. Of course I replaced "PASSWORD" with my own club password.
Since urpmi.addmedia didn't find
the hdlist.cz with the above command I altered the command, adding
"--probe-hdlist", and deleting "with hdlist.cz".

Again, I added linebreaks above. I don't seem to be able to add the
club media which would allow me to download OpenOffice 2.0 RPMs. Has
anyone succeeded in doing this? If so, how did you do it? Can anyone
see a problem with what I'm doing?
Thanks....

This background acty continues until the system locks up and i have
to reboot...prior to Man06, i could, of course, go for wks w/o
reboot. Most stop workin' from lack of RAM.
When i run the top prgm, it is clear that X and panel consume about
75% of the CPU...gkrellm also confirms activity.
...been 2-3 wks now since i upgraded to Man06. Upgrade went smoothly
and each time since then upgrade has also been smooth, but to no
avail.
I recall that there was a similar prob posted here. Of course, i did
not have the prob then but may have poked around in the /etc file
system area or where ever it was specified in the post.
This is has been become increasingly frustrating, and while i'm not a
newbie, i am indeed lost when we move beyond point/click...!
Would welcome any suggestions and/or comments...if i've not presented
my case well enough, pls let me know so that i can get it right for
the most effective fix.
Let me get this posted before i losse the system again...thanx!

If you have an ACPI-enabled system on which both acpid and X.org are running, you may
experience high CPU usage in the release version of Mandriva Linux 2006. This problem is
triggered when the logrotate tool is called to compress and rotate the system logs, so it will happen
at 4 a.m. if your system is on and cron or anacron is enabled, or at the first boot after 4 a.m. if
anacron is enabled and your system was off at 4 a.m. If you experience the problem, you must
restart either X.org or the system in order to stop the high CPU usage. This problem will be fixed as
soon as possible by an official update. As a workaround, you can turn off the acpid service, or stop
logrotate from rotating the acpid log file by removing the file /etc/logrotate.d/acpid . See also

Yes, the "myacct%40mydom.com" has been altered for this forum to obscure
my real email address from spammers. I used my real email address, the
one I used successfully to login to the club website. I tried the %40
literally and as an at sign. Still, nothing worked.
Thanks for the suggestions....

Hi,
OpenOffice from contrib is milestone 129 (m129).
The package from Mandriva Club is the final version of OpenOffice 2.0.
As non Club-user you can download the final version of OpenOffice 2.0 from
their website http://www.openoffice.org/.

Why not simply get the install from OpenOffice website? I did, and it is remarkably easy, and gives you a completely portable version too.
