Hi,

I successfully installed V3.13 of the above software and am having
difficulty trying to set it up to get the updates.

The F-Prot web site states that:

"To update the virus signature files for f-prot antivirus for Linux, use
the check-updates.sh script included with f-prot antivirus for Linux"

I would appreciate any help on how to do this.

Thank you. Al

open a terminal then,

cd /(where ever)/fprot
su xxxx
password zzzz
./check-updates.sh

Hope that helps

Tried this but it needed a wee bit of work (I'm new to this....)

Thanks

should take only a few milliseconds, use locate ....
locate prot

Of course, you have to have previously run updatedb (as root).

Beauty! This is getting exciting :-)

I find the command line a bit better than navigating the GUI which has too
many sub-menus and oprions....

Thanks.

I find there are times when the CLI is better, and some things when the GUI
is better, but it pays to know about both. Try these links ...

Hello Al,

I think you should check out http://www.opswat.com/ there are 2 or 3 products that may be a match. I think that OESIS Framework at http://www.opswat.com/products/oesis-framework provides a single interface to many antivirus packages. Another option is, I think, Metascan at http://www.opswat.com/products/metascan which is more for ISV.
I also found that many antivirus engines certified by OPSWAT at http://www.opswat.com/certified.

I hope this helps.
Regards,

Sandra
