Hi all,

Just wondering -- can the Windows key be programmed to bring up the
Linux version of the start menu? Also, how can I set Linux to boot up with
Numlock enabled?

Thanks a bunch :)

My "windows" keys function in LM8.0 as they do in W2k.

The settings from my XF86Config-4 file are:
Section "InputDevice"

Identifier "Keyboard1"
Driver "Keyboard"
Option "AutoRepeat" "250 30"
Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"

EndSection

This was setup automatically during the installation - I'm not sure if
there are other files that affect how this works or not. I seem to
remember seeing some kind of how-to to allow the Windows keys to
function in Gnome or KDE.

Good luck.

For a point and click solution use
kcontrol-->looknfeel-->keybindings-->popup lauch menu
It shows up as f13 when I do it.

The program "numlock" is probably already installed.
If you need to you can install it with the package manager.
You can enable it on bootup in linuxconf-->control-->control
panel-->service control-->numlock
( or in Mandrake control centre)

That would be because it has a diffrent keycode. I belive it is maped
to be the 'meta' key by default.
