Hello Where can I find a version of minimal installation of FreeDos only on floppy ? I need to install FreeDos on PC without cd drive. Thanks. Ben

I have tried to install win 3.11 on to aFreeDos prtition and all it says is ...Cannot run windows while the currently installed protected mode software is running. Quit the protected-mode software, and then try again. But I have done this on a FAT 32 partition - I wonder if that is the problem - or if not what is the protected mode software initialised by... more »

FreeDOS can no longer read CD drive, boot problems

My configuration: Older laptop - 200 MHz Pentium MMX 40MB RAM 2GB Hard drive EGA/VGA integrated video Removable 1.44 floppy drive Removable 20X CD-ROM drive After installation, the FreeDOS CD can boot up the machine, but no other CD can even be read - and once it boots into the hard drive, even the FreeDOS CD can't be read anymore.... more »

Am using latest FreeDOS 1.0 version, from BASECD.iso. 1. Load FreeDOS with EMM386, no EMS (most UMBs), max RAM free 2. Load FreeDOS with EMM386+EMS and SHARE 3. Is freedos a reverse engineering of MS-DOS... built on IA32 architecture? Are there any ports to say... mac, sun, and other architectures? Am curious whether freedos can be natively ported to other platforms... like PSP, etc.

freedos problem- looses ability to execute programs

i have freedos 1 and every so often it will decide not to let me execute any programs. cd, dir and most internal commands work, but if i tell it to run a program it returns a prompt without any errors and does nothing. the i restart and it runs fine again. this happens on my intel core 2 duo with sata hd and my shuttle 597 200 mhz with 500 mb... more »
