Is it easy to install to a stik, for booting?
I've got an app which I used to run in dos-mode on my W98 notebook. Now this Win7 net book gives <can't do DOS fullscreen> errors. So could I install DOS on a stik, and boot from that [I already put linux of a CF and boot/use that], and then hope that the hardware can handle it. The display hardware is ok for linux., except that I'd like to get a bigger... more »

Running (Free)DOS from ROM
Hallo allemaal, I'm hobbying more then a bit with some old IBM PC-XT (compatibles). And I found an old REX EPROM card capable of handling up to sixteen 27512s, good for 1 MByte of data. IMHO enough to contain the most used files of FreeDOS or MS-DOS. But how to do it? I know I need a kind of device driver to tell DOS with what device, in... more »

FreeDOS state
Is freeDOS still an active project? I love the OS, and I use it as my Primary OS for work, without a GUI it provides me a nice, no BS and distraction free environment for getting what I need done. I know that the project is what, 15 years old? Is it still current? I love what has been done with it and would find it sad to see it end at only... more »

Silent boot
Hi- I'd like to modify FreeDOS to remove the display of the copyright notice when it boots (both in kernel.sys and command.com). I'd put the copyright notices on the distribution media as text files instead. However, I don't want to do this if it's going to go against (a) the licence or (b) the wishes of the FreeDOS developers.... more »
