Dont bother trying to use Pineapple Newsreader thats on the BeBits website.
The files available for download are expired and even if you follow the
instructions the developer left on his site, it give you the same error to
"download a new unexpired version."
Too bad, it was the highest rated newsreader for BeOS.

FYI

I think Allen stopped development a few months back. Does this help though?

Sometimes you can see the file name what you could have downloaded. Feed
Google with that, it helps sometimes to find another source.

I registered "Newsreader" when the Author first started it (before
Pineapple), and while the binary handling was a bit "different", it
worked fine. I still have it on a BeOS 5.03 machine. I tried
Pineapple when it first came out, but the Author stupidly disabled
binary handling in the non-paid version, so there's no way I could test
it w/o paying - something I refuse to do.

The Author of Pineapple went to OSX, but there's no way Pineapple can
compete with the polish and features of Unison there. At least
Newsreader is still available and still works, even in Zeta. I'm
hoping someone will pick up the coding again for Haiku.

It would be nice if the download offered at BeBits had the expiration date
moved up.

Only if you had a previously installed working version.
Installing it from the two sites listed on BeBits gets you an error message
indicating that you should "download a newer version as this one has expired".
Its a catch 22 unless I can find one with the expiration date hacked.
