My name is Krista and I'm writing to Food-Not-Bombs representatives
across the country to request local chapter participation in an
ongoing backpack drive for the homeless. This should require minimal
additional effort if you choose to assist with this endeavor.
In order to secure donation drops, one or several of the following
circumtances should apply to your chapter: A. You operate through a
high-traffic, progressive place of business such as a grocery co-op B.
A member or members of your group are employed or volunteer at an
establishment that would be willing to serve as a drop- spot C. You
consist of a group of highly ambitious individuals who would be
willing to go out of their way to establish drop spots at various
locations and coordinate donation pick-ups.
I encourage all interested parties to join the google group Backpacks
For the Homeless. This will be key in ensuring broad, long-term
success. While donation drives will be entirely locally managed, the
google group will provide a nationwide, open dialog through which we
can most effectively support and learn from each other. It will allow
us to organize events, share calendars and group documents, the first
of which include the sample flier and drop-spot request letter for
area businesses.
