Hey,

about two days ago, I tried to reply to an e-mail I was sent to my AOL
e-mail address.

Unfortunately, this didn't work no longer. I'm still able to download
AOL e-mail to my Desktop, but not to send any message.

Does someone please know what's going on.

Thanks for your help,
Steve

xposted to alt.aol.tricks & alt.aol.
Look there for responses I presume.

BTW, Outlook Distress seems to fail here as well when sending
via AOL's servers. Looks like it was sent (so OE says) but no copy
on AOL's outbound servers & it never gets there (to where it was sent).

IIRC This used to work.

Thanks for your support Cliff, as well as for reposting the message.
This problem only occurred recently, while the AOL account in OE ever
worked flawlessly.

I read something about Google would be taking over AOL. Are there any
changes be made downloading AOL e-mail to your desktop?

I presume the rumors are true.

If it has happened I've not noticed anything BUT I see different
unread email depending on what version of AOL I use.
Perhaps they have fixed that; I've not checked lately .. using
AOL 7.0 mostly.

I don't know but I get bounced spam complaints I sent from google.
Google should not have been anywhere involved in them AFAIK.

Do you know of anything I still could try, Cliff? So far I altered the
e-mail to aim.com, put pop.aol. com instead of imap.aol.com. All the
same. Sometimes it helped to log on to the web based e-mail account,
but not this time.

As I said previously, also I'm not aware of anything that I had
screwed up. Now I'm left quite helpless.

I don't have a clue & have had no time to search the Web or AOL help.
IF you are on AOL support you might try calling them for the fun of it.
I am not & got tired of their "support" years ago.

If/when you find out please post !

Cliff, all of a sudden it seems to be working again. I didn't send
torrents of mail, but the test mil got through.

I hadn't got no error message left as well no more. So, I'm hoping the
best.
