Died last night with a back injury to Pedro Martinez. Though not
serious, and expected to be ready for his next start, the injury killed
the Sox chances to end the curse of the Bambino for this century. They
lost the all-important game 1, used up their best reliever (Lowe) who
was supposed to come in relief of Saberhagen today.

Plus, Notarious Sox-killing Nagy pitching today.

Very sad. I was hopeful for this team.

Been there, done that, didn't get the T-shirt (in '67, '75, '78 or '86)

In fairness to the Bosox(and this is coming not from a NY Mets fan but
from a baseball fan... period)the '67 Sox team gave the Cardinals a
great run for the money(Gibson was awesome in every respect)as did the
'75 team(Game 6 is of course legendary) give all it had against the
Reds.
The '86 Sox team SHOULD have won the Series due to the Met's early
problems(although I believe the Mets were on paper and on the field the
better team)and the Mets very nearly never recovered but some really
strange managing decisions by John McNamara and certain other
factors(no,I won't mention you-know-who on first who shouldn't have been
playing anyway IMHO...instead I think more of Oil Can Boyd and Calvin
Scharaldi)all contributed to their downfall.
And '78 was Bucky Dent,right?
If it's any consolation:I consider Bosox fans some of the most
knowlegable in the game as well as the Cubs fans.
Ahhh, the Cubs....but that's for another posting on another day in
another season,etc.

Agony is right. The four major league teams I hate the most (ignoring,
for the moment, the love-hate relationship I have with the Dodgers) are
(in descending order) the Yankees, Mets, Indians and Braves. Hey, isn't
the arena football season starting soon?

Well, the Sox just aren't staying down, the Yanks might wind up having to
end their season personally.(As I write, the Sox lead Game 4 11-2 in the
4th with runners on second and third and 2 out)

Just thought someone should change the header. Boston has a twelve run lead,
top of the seventh.

I will announce the end of their season when the Yanks

Pretty cocky, Lou, considering they haven't started Game 1 yet, and you
haven't learned how to separate words from punctuation. Failing to put a
space after a comma is the greatest evil ever conceived by the human
mind, and IT CANNOT BE TOLERATED!

On the contrary,it is spacing after punctuation that, when printed out,
is a threat to the world's forests!!

Are you saying that you're so wasteful as to print this stuff out? On
paper?!? Are you out of your mind!? I thought everyone on the internet
knew enough to use berry juice smeared on leaves in order to share the
worthwhile posts with their co-workers.

I'm appalled.
