Fairfax Mason, actress, singer, beauty queen, 78 Mrs. Fairfax B.
Mason, 78, died Monday, June 11, 2007, in Muhlenberg Regional Medical
Center in Plainfield. Visitation is on Wednesday, from 2 to 6 p.m. at
the Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Ave., Scotch Plains. Born in
Springfield, Mass., Fairfax lived in New York City and settled in
Fanwood in 1971. She was a graduate of Sullens College in Virginia
with a B.A. in drama. She worked as an executive receptionist for 21st
Securities in New York for 8- years, retiring in 2004. Fairfax was a
performer at heart, acting and singing for over 50 years. She appeared
in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying as the sexpot,
Heddi LaRue. She appeared in over 99 television commercials, including
spots for General Electric, Westinghouse and Camel Cigarettes. She
also appeared in several soap operas, such as General Hospital and All
My Children, and others. She was in several television shows, such as
New York Undercover as a jurist, and was the understudy for the judge.
Fairfax appeared as a singer in Las Vegas, Nev., Atlantic City, and
the Catskills, and in Cuba before Castros takeover. A former MGM
starlet, she was Miss Connecticut in the 1948 Miss American Pageant
and was declared Miss Atlantic in Halifax, Nova Scotia, for 100 years.
Mrs. Mason is survived by her beloved husband, Howard. Donations may
be made to a charity of choice.
