2008 AO Deadpool Update: June Travis

for her timing. Her career was odd, to say the least. She
was scouted by Hollywood at spring training in Florida where
she was watching her father's Chicago White Sox. She spent
a few years in Hollywood, and then left just before its
heyday, never to return. As a result, you need to be a
particularly dedicated film buff to even recognize the name.
If you were a Perry Mason film fan, you'd know she played
Della Street. If you were a Howard Hawks' fan, you'd know
she played a young aviatrix and love interest of Jimmy
Cagney in Ceiling Zero. (Trained by Amelia Earhart. Now
that's a nice piece of trivia.) If you were a Ronald Reagan
fan, then you'd know she was his co-star in Love is On the
Air (plot summary written by Jim Beaver at the IMDB, and
it's a doozy.) If you were a 60's monster movie fan, you'd
know she was, inexplicably, in Monster A Go-Go. But if you
were not a particularly dedicated film buff, then you
wouldn't know her, because she quit, left town, ("I don't
remember that it was such a ball.") got married, had
children, (one of whom was named June Travis Friedlob, Jr.)
did a lot of theater in the Chicago area and had a very
long, apparently happy life. June Travis died in April.
She was 94.
Fortunately, there is one particularly dedicated film buff
who plays the AO deadpool, and this is his first hit of the
year. Welcome, James Neibaur! He gets 2 for the hit and 5
