Do you think Celeste Holm did enough on TV? She is a no brainer for
the Oscars, but I cannot remember her doing much beyond an occasional
guest roll. I also think Sue Mengers will be mentioned. A lot of her
clients are going to be in the audience.

BTW, re. Sue Mengers, I would not be surprised to see Lawrence Barnett
mentioned for the same reason.

What about Ron Palillo, and Robert Hegyes for that matter? I think Palillo
would have a better chance, as Horshack was a more popular character, but
they may not want to include one and leave out the other. I'm not sure
there's
room for both, so I'm leaning towards neither being included.

They could find a PR photo from during the "Kotter" days which
includes them both. Two birds, one stone theory.

With the exception of Frank Cady, every actor on my list was a feature
performer, which neither Pallilo nor Hegyes were. I agree with you that
the Academy will include both or neither, and there just wont be room for
them. I would be more inclined to include either Sid Melton or Leonard
Stone than either Pallilo or Hegyes based on body of work.

But the world is full of zanies and fools
Who don't believe in sensible rules
And won't believe what sensible people say
And because these daft and dewy-eyed dopes
Keep building up impossible hopes
Impossible things are happening every day

The Television Academy has added Palillo's name to its In Memoriam web page--along with that of Hegyes, which had previously been absent.

Stone is listed, but not Melton, who died the same day.

Inclusion on this list does not guarantee inclusion in the on-air
segment; there are 131 eligible names on yhe list with a few, like that of
Sid Melton, missing.

That's why they have the page.

Exclusion, by the way, doesn't mean they won't be in the show. Last year there were three people in the TV segment who weren't listed on the web page (and still aren't).

I fully expected the death of Palillo would prompt the addition of Hegyes. Who has to die to get Melton on there?

Mary Grace Canfield, just to make a wild guess (actually I would have thought
Frank Cady would serve as a suitable reminder)....r

You'd think he'd be a lock all on his own. To answer your question,
though ... maybe Pat Carroll?

You can add the name Lupe Ontiveros.

For the last four years, the In Memoriam segment has included at least one actor who guest starred on "King of the Hill." As far as I know, she is the only such performer who has died in the past year, although there are a few candidates on the horizon: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_guest_stars_on_King_of_the_Hill

Besides, you don't have enough women on your list.

The streak continues.

Note: This prediction made the day Phyllis Diller died, and while Michael Clarke Duncan was hospitalized.
