Mr. Binyon won two DGA Awards. IMDB also lists a Claude Binyon who may
be his father. I'm not sure. If so, his father once worked for Variety
and is the man who wrote the famous headline "Wall Street Lays An Egg"
to describe the 1929 stack market crash. Below is his paid obit.

Claude H. BINYON, Jr. Claude was born July 13, 1930 to Claude Howard
Binyon and Florence Sobbe in Los Angeles, CA. He died January 27, 2007
in Bellevue, WA. Claude is survived by his wife of nineteen years,
Pilar Binyon of Bellevue, WA; daughter, Claudia Ann Scott and husband,
Charlie Scott of Stirling City, CA; daughter, Karen Lee Simon and
husband, Richard Simon of Susanville, CA; son, Kurt Charles Binyon and
wife, Connie Binyon of Burbank, CA; grandchildren, Nirvana, Camille,
Tamara, Judith Ann, Shawn, Julia, LeeAnn, and five great-
grandchildren. His former wife, Arlene Binyon of Burbank, CA also
survives him. His sister, Barbara Lilly preceded Claude in death.
Claude enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the motion picture
business as an assistant director, production manager and producer.
His career spanned from the early days of Warner Bros with such shows
as "Gallant Men," "Hawaiian Eye," "Surfside 6," "Maverick," and "77
Sunset Strip." Other TV series included "Get Smart," "Star Trek,"
"Outer Limits" and "Happy Days." Feature films included classics such
as "Court Jester," "To Catch a Thief," "3:10 to Yuma," "The Enemy
Below," "Friendly Persuasion," "Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine,"
"Spinout," "Clam Bake," "Things are Tough all Over," "Westworld" and
"Deerhunter." Claude was a member of the Director's Guild of America
and the Producer's Guild of America. His dear friend, Elliot
Silverstein stated, "Claude was the most honest man and most competent
in his skill that I have ever known. He was loyal and passionate with
a character of uncompromising integrity. I shall always hold him up as
the gold standard. He was a gem." Claude was admired, respected and
loved by many. His kindness, generosity, zest for life, love of good
food, and clever sense of humor touched everyone who knew him. There
are no words to describe how deeply he will be missed. His memory will
live forever in our hearts.

California Death records for Claude Howard Binyon Sr. match the
birth/death dates and birth state (IL) given for the Claude Binyon at IMDb.
And Cal Birth records match the data given below for Junior, listing him as
Claude Howard Binyon as well, so I'd say it's a safe bet they're father and
son.

They were. I knew Claude Jr. very slightly.
