John Pearse - guitarist and string maker

A skilled guitarist who came to prominence in in 1960s Britain. He was
a teacher, larger than life character, maker of superior guitar
strings and more. One of his books, with attached record, inspired me
and took my guitar playing beyond the three chord strum. I've always
been grateful for that. I never met him but it was a pleasure to get
in touch with him more recently thanks to usenet. Turns out he didn't
see a penny for that book. He will be sorely missed by the guitar
community.

Thanks, Don. I have passed this onto my son-in-law who uses JP strings
on some of his instruments (plays guitar, mandolin, banjo and
ukulele). It's doubtful we would have known had you not posted the
