Originally sked for Sunday, and highly promoted and
ecnouraged up to a half hour ago by Mayor Mike despite
lots and lots of naysayers.

He changed his mind...

I wonder if Mayor Bloomburger will take those generators to some gas
stations.

One of my friends flew into New York yesterday to run in his first
marathon. Less than four hours ago, he was interviewed on BBC Radio 5
Live as a British participant in the marathon. Now he's gutted.

If he's smart he will, so no, he probably won't.

At least when Carter cancelled US participation in the Olympics
we got to see some Heavy Duty Lesbian Sec Action between
Patrice Donnely and mariel Hemingway.

Can't wait for Roy's rejoinder to this one.

Oh, I wouldn't say that!

Of course it makes no sense, only women have (ir)regular 28-day
cycles.

No, he's "no good" because he spent months training for his first
marathon and a lot of money on airfares and accomodation in NYC, all
so he could raise thousands of $$$ for Get Kids Going
http://http://www.getkidsgoing.com/

Oh, and if you're ever in England and need an osteopath, he comes
highly recommended.

Instead of whining and being "gutted" perhaps he could get his skinny ass down to Lower Manhattan and Staten Island and help out in the recovery efforts.

Let him think about someone other than himself.

Well, you would say that, wouldn't you?

I take your point, Mark, but I don't think he is gutted for himself,
but for the charity he was runnung for, Get Kids Going.

His other gripe is, why wait until Friday afternoon to call it off? By
then, 90% of the participants had to pay their airfares and
accommodation charges.

I feel that should be his only gripe. Yes, the mayor blew it by making the
call too late for people like your friend to adjust, but ultimately it was
the right call.

LOL. Hopefully those generators were quickly put into use helping people
who really need them.

There's another nor'easter storm coming on Tues/Wed. It will not be
another Sandy and should affect mostly northern New England, but it will
draw in colder temps and it's possible NY, NJ and CT will get some wind and
rain. There are still a lot of people who don't have proper shelter down
there. I hope Obama is having a great time campaigning. I've been
reading the news reports coming from the UK news sources. Their reports
all say FEMA and the Red Cross haven't given a thought to the folks on
Staten Island. has

One point - the marathon (45000 people) had to be cancelled, but the
Steelers @ Giants game (85000 people) is still on. Just saying.

Hi David,

The Giants stadium, technically called MetLife Stadium, is located in East
Rutherford, New Jersey not in the middle of New York City. :)
