Jessie Nicholls, who was born on January 25, 1892, passed away
peacefully last Wednesday at the Donnington House care home in
Chichester, West Sussex.
Mrs Nicholls was described as a *great lady* by staff. At the time of
her birth Britain was in mourning for the Duke of Clarence & Avondale;
the Marquess of Salisbury was Prime Minister; Gladstone had yet to
form his fourth ministry; Labour had only 3 MPs; Cezanne painted his
*Still Life with Apples and Primroses*; the construction of the
Blackwall Tunnel commenced, &c.

Michael Rhodes.
Her death leaves no CONFIRMED residents of the UK older than
110 or more,as we have not been assured of documentation for
Scotland's Lucy d'Abreu,a cousin-in-law of the late Queen Mother
who reportedly turned 110 some months ago.
