Jasmine is one of my siamese bluepoint cats and she died today.

I had woken and as usual she wanted her morning drink of water from the bathroom
sink - she trained me well. I went to the kitchen for a drink of water and then
heard a loud thump from the bathroom - much louder than when she jumps down from
the sink.

I went in and found her lying on her side, breathing a bit hard but laying
calmy.
I guess she had a stroke or some such. I cupped one hand under her head
and gently stroked her forehead while her breathing went softer and softer.

Glad I was home when this happened as at least I know what happended and was
there. But it's hard helping a pet ease on to the other side.

I'm real sorry for you. Losing a loved animal is sad and painful for our
hearts. She was lucky to have you there to help her in her last
moments. My sympathies go out to you.

How old was she...had there been any warning signs?

16 - a long happy life. No warnings - regularity, eating normal, etc.

Thank you all so much.

Still have her sister Dusty and she got extra kisses and hugs tonight.

As I mentioned in my response to Louis, she was 16. Had a long good life and
gave no indication of something wrong these past months. Just her usual self to
the end. Glad I had her.

I have always let my cats go outside. I have lost three cats to cars and
one to a coyote.

I have two cats now and they are inside cats. They look out the windows
and MEOW all the time.

I found a dead cat on my front lawn two weeks ago. I spent hours
knocking on doors until I found the owner. It was hit by a car. A
beautiful male two year old cat.

Someone going by our house is killing the cats in our neighborhood.

Everyone in our neighborhood has lost a cat to a vehicle.

There were tire tracks on our law a few years ago. I think that person
was trying to kill a cat.


When we find that person that is driving that black FORD truck....we
will talk to you.

Yes. Dusty seems to be fine, though I took the day off work and she seemed to
"hang around me" more - maybe it was just me. Cats seem to have this acceptance
of death.

Years ago, I had an orange tabby called "Fred" who contracted leukemia - caught
it from another cat in the neighbourhood. Funny, that cat was a carrier but
never got ill from it.

Our cat (1968-81) who died of FeLV probably got it while being kept at a
vet's office for an unrelated illness.He showed up as a stray kitten on
my first day of second grade,and used to jump up on my bedroom window from
outside and have me let him in there.Very affectionate,and also a
faucet-drinker.

Our three littermate dogs born in 1981 all died in 1994...my mother said
the last survivor seemed to sniff the air looking for the others to come
back.He died at home of a heart attack.
