Yes, the GOP could've had a potential "Willard/Ben" ticket! ("They don't see you like I do, I wish they would try to...")
Why hasn't anybody ever had a political debate show pairing up polar ideological opposites Senator Al Franken and Nixon speechwriter Ben Stein? Instead of calling it something like "Liberal Vs. Conservative," "Crossfire," or "Point/CounterPoint," it could be called "Franken/Stein."
"Vote Kennedy/Eagleton in 1980 -- the Waterproof and Shockproof Ticket!" -- leftover graffito from the Men's Room wall at NYC's Strand Bookstore circa 1983.
